Always fuse your demons. If you go to a new sector and haven't encountered a demon before, it'll show up as a static blue blob that you have to guess with skills to kill and if you screw up badly you'll die. If you fuse new demons constantly, you'll bypass that as well as knowing the weaknesses for demons in the new sector. Have at least a few demons that are present in the sector in you party, as you can skip fighting and get items through talking to the same demon. There's a sub app that allows you to fuse demons using their current level, and not the base level, which is useful for fusing. There's also another app that allows you to speak to demons during a full moon. They'll either attack, give you items, leave, or join your party (the demon's response is random so one reply that works for a demon might not work again for the same demon) And most importantly, trust him

There's Citra but it's not a fully functional emulator. Some games won't play at all, some with massive glitches/freezes, some with FPS issues even with the ghetto frame limiter they have, some work perfectly and some only work with one version of the game and not later patched ones (Devil Overclocked apparently does not work with v1.1). Dudes Press Turn is so goofily unbalanced that Atlus had to make all the SMT4 post game bosses literally throw a tantrum if you were too good at the game. And in 4A they just lol at it giving you Pierce and every late game boss spams almighty.

It's not like you have to think real hard about press turn. You have like 6-8 actions each turn. You don't have to choose wisely for action efficiency. You got more than enough for attacks, heals, debuffs. Only way a boss can pressure you is with instakills.

Even Atlus figured out this shit is too cheesy for them to balance.

Dialogues in boss battles are not a new thing, not to mention that they are more of a story element, with the optional choice to increase/decrease your and/or the boss' power.

Almighty is there so you don't null or repel every attack your enemies do by lategame. Even if you removed "lose turns" system from nulling or repelling, if the game didn't address that you have all the means to never be damaged by an enemy, it would still be a major issue if almighty didn't exist.

But I consider that having 3-4 optional extra turns to heal, revive, buff, debuff, cancel effects, recast or change the ocasional demon, charge/concentrate and then attacking, all feels satisfying. Maybe you have a gripe against the combat of the IV saga, but for me the press turn system is a good RPG mechanic that feels satisfying, especially because it applies both ways, so you don't neglect building a good party.

My issue is that almighty has to exist because the difference between 4-8 actions and just having 1 is so enormous that reflection/whiffing is dominant beyond any other strategy.

I don't think Press Turn is bad. I agree it has a satisfying feel (but losing your entire turn on a miss is anti-satisfying) even if it is swingy and hard to balance. But I think you have to abandon it eventually or significantly change it if you want to shoot for deeper combat eventually.

I argue that TMS is smarter in this regard largely because you don't have enough actions to do everything, attacking comes at an opportunity cost of not being able to clean up your messes, whereas attacking enables that in press turn, and the random equivalent of smirking, getting a duo art or ad lib, is even more satisfying than racking up turns. And shutdown by blocking/dodging is no longer so incredibly powerful by not linking it to the press turns.

There's value in both systems though for sure.

The problem is she isn't told that. The entire Fagda Danu argument doesn't even mention record scratch. Atlus clearly wants the choice to be between friends and new humanity. They don't talk about the retarded "which plot hole magics can save us from the stupid yellow bastard plot hole" until after the deed is done.

Nozomi and Danu have no argument to beat the Scratchmaster as they aren't even invited to the table for that conversation.

There's just as much supporting evidence that observing Scratch fixes most of the issues but then you have the awful plot of "we wrote a universe where nothing good can ever happen and all heroism is futile. How do we fix it? Look at a cartoonishly evil yellow dude or make a new universe?"

Nozomi also gets to be the plot device for the incredibly corny NANASHI BETRAYED US arc.

Plus Atlus wrote a blonde hottie battling demons with a shotgun in post apocalyptic Nippon and made it boring. That takes skill that only the dopes who gave us SMT4 could master.
