It turned out Patches, Small-time Bucaneer and to an extent Red Mana Wyrm were really good neutral cards too and pretty much every bad match-up Miracle had except Pirate Warrior rolled over and died.

It's not worth it without dragons in your deck. Priests ran Lightbomb because almost all of their minions could survive it and set up for Circle of Healing (potentially with Northshire Cleric for massive card draw). Dragonfire Potion mostly cuts out the "survive" bit if you can't make use of the immunity tag.

I've faced a lot more Rogues and shamans while bouncing between ranks 4-6.

Rogue at the moment has really strong openers, stupid amounts of draw if gadgetzan goes off, tons of burst and the potential to all-in conceal/van-cleef shit.

I'm looking for the most value out of a Legendary in a sense that it opens up the most play styles.

You could drop Auctioneers entirely and the deck would still be fine. It's an aggro deck now, designed to combat other aggro decks, nothing more nothing less. It's easier than ever to play, which explains its huge surge in popularity and fedora tippers juming on the Rogue train for the first time ever.

It will return to its former patrician combo glory again once the meta settles and Control Cucks start building their decks back up. Pirate aggression won't be enough to seal the deal anymore and shitters will abandon the deck once more for something simpler to play.
