So I played for about a month at launch then quit. A bunch of friends are talking about playing again and leveling new characters which I'll probably do.

How are Elementalists? Guardians?

They are useful in every game mode. They have very high DPS and can also fit support roles like healing.

Pretty good at pvp as they are one of the meta clases. In pve they are also good at DPS and have some support utility as well.


This information is based on having Heart of Thorns.

Elite specs add a significant amount of power creep. Every meta build and the newer content basically requires it.

Great in PvE. Have two very high DPS builds and one pretty solid healing build.

Only two really viable conquest builds. One which can be a gamechanging support if played well and the other can be pretty good dps.

3 good WvW builds. I'm of the opinion that staff ele's are one of the most useful things to have in a zerg, and an well-played auramancer to fight against. S/f fresh air isn't that great IMO, but can do well in the right hands.

Ele is what it has always been. High skill cap and fairly unforgiving of mistakes but very fun to play.

Amazing all-around. Many viable tank/support/dps builds in every game mode.

I went to Maguuma because one of my friends already had a bunch of high level chars there and apparently it's like the second best WvW server, but it'd be fun to hop on TC and play around there when they aren't on. My workload is going to decrease drastically starting next month so I'll probably have a lot of time for that.

I also gave my account away to a friend at one point who played pretty heavily for about a year so I'm going to be starting off with a lot of gold and a couple of neat outfits like the noble count one which I'll use on the femhuman ele.

Thieves are easily one of the best pvp classes right now.

I play with one a lot on my auramancer and we do some fucking work. We've won a lot of 2vX's by bursting down one opponent, then I earth 5 stomp them to give him bloodlust stacks then he goes to kill the rest of them while I deny projectiles and condi cleanse.

The main ele pvp build is auramancer, which uses dagger/focus. Earth skill 5 with a focus is 4 seconds of invulnerability on a 50 sec cd, which is primarily used to survive heavy pressure or deny caps but when timed right is also a guaranteed stomp or rez.

you'd use the heal over time healing signet and for the elite either rampage or the signet. weapons would be greatsword and mace/shield. without headbutt, breakbars will be more a problem so maybe tech in fear me if you need to break bars. i've played warrior since launch so you should listen to me
