I read about it on a gaming magazine at the time and thought it was a neat idea. I had also seen a gif of Flowey some time before that and thought "oh so this is the game". I'm a sucker for games with morality systems.

In hindsight it was a really good thing I didn't know that much about the game before I played it. It left a much bigger impact when I had no expectations or previous knowledge.

I was looking through old twitch vods of some guy and found the old demo back in 2013, I thought it was the most bizarre game I'd seen with the black/white battle system and act choices. Completely forgot about it until two years later I saw joel's thumbnail for it and instantly recognized the flower, i couldnt believe my eyes, that strange game from so long ago was finally out, so i found out it got released then went to play it.

Thanks for the advice but he problem runs a little deeper than that for me. I've reached a point where I physically can't love or associate that kind of emotion with humans. Its easy to say there's lots of people with personalities like that of the characters but I doubt I would like them even if they did have those personalities. Once upon a time I would have dated other people, I think at some point I could have even fallen in love. Now I cant love humans. I struggle to connect with other people because of how my brains hardwired against it. I can socialise with anons because they're honest often and tend to be as sad and as lonely as me. Plus I never have to associate a face with them. They're just words essentially.
Its like im not even human anymore.

It's the same thing when people become obsessed with anime or furries or whatever. All you need to remember is that those characters reflect real aspects of humans and they all exist in some form in other people. The best thing is that people are not written and predictable so they might be even better than these characters in surprising ways.

the author wrote the thing by the seat of their pants and it's been falling apart with alarming quickness

I honestly would have been stunned if they managed to reach at least part of the gravitas the original New Home sequence had, but that was seriously not just a high bar, but made near-impossible due to the switches.

A big part of the effect of New Home is you learn of how a family was effectively destroyed by a horrible tragedy. Here, it's just one rando dying after another, there's nothing tying Metta to Sans or vice-versa, there's nothing on the child, nothing on Blooky, absolutely zero to really grasp onto.

It's just a semi-sad story, that barely even connects because it requires another info-dump.
