Content locked on disc to later be sold as overpriced DLC. Repetitive, boring strikes all following the same pattern (Being defend 3 waves/kill 3 majors then continue to Giant Bullet Sponge Boss). RNG was fucked and didn't have the same logic it does now. PvP meta was awful, yes Destiny PvP is always shit but TLW and Thorn meta made it by far the most annoying to play. 2 headshots with Thorn and you died. It wasn't fun and anyone could abuse these OP weapons, this meta lasted for about 9 months if I remember correctly. Those are just some Y1 things I remember off the top of my head. I'll give you that VoG was fun though. It was probably the best raid yet IMO.

Efrideet one shot to the body still existed, have you forgotten? It was pretty popular. Even before this existed, Preadyth's Revenge had such a high RoF you could easily 2 shot to the body in under a second and get an easy kill. This was before they nerfed Special ammo boxes and it was plentiful, so any shitter could do this. Any shitter can still do this, but they'd be wasting more ammo so at least there's some sort of punishment.

Elemental primaries just made themselves the best PvE weapons. Not necessarily because of their stats or perks (Although VoC and Fatebringer were legitimately good weapons), but just by virtue of being elemental. Well, that's confusing, but anyway in my anecdotal evidence I've found more people use exotic heavy weapons or special weapons in PvE than the Zhalo, but this sin't exactly something there are stats on and I haven't played PvP since coming back to Destiny so I can't comment.

Most of my PvP experience comes from trying to level up in Iron Banner solo while being underleveled so yes my stats are lower than I'd like them to be but overall I'm pretty happy with them, I certainly played enough anyway to know what weapons people used during Y1 anyway (Hint, it was SUROS and the exotic handcannons)

II played all the time with Wish You Luck who was at the time ranked #1 Rumble player on Xbox (Don't know what he's ranked anymore or if he even plays). His favorite weapon to use was the SUROS, other top tier players he played with used the SUROS and the handcannons. Yes, a good player *can* use whatever weapon they want because they're just that good, but they often didn't. I know this because I have been in a few games across Y1 with good players or I've seen these games being played on stream. In a game like Destiny there will always be a 'meta'. There will always be the best weapons or best perks and people will naturally gravitate to these weapons. That's fine. It wasn't very entertaining to play with those weapons or against those weapons IMO. If you consider streamers the "good players" then god damn you couldn't be more wrong. I'll give you Wish. He was very good. But no, SUROS wasn't the best gun used by the best players. It was the most common gun used by the most popular players.

Y1 meta was much more fun that the shit we have today. It's literally Clever Dragon or you lose. That's it. It kills faster than any other gun. It is more forgiving than any other gun and it was easy as fuck to obtain. Playing crucible is fucking cancer. I can't use anything other than the trials weapons otherwise I get dicked by a Clever Dragon. There is not a single gun that can compete with it on a player-skill base. If you have a Clever Dragon, that's it. You win. Y1? You could have a Hawkmoon and he could have TLW. You could have Red Death he could have SUROS. You had a scout, he could have a Messenger. Clever Dragon and the HRoF pulse meta is worse than anything in Y1 because unlike Y1, you either use it or you lose out. There was no losing out concept in Y1. There was no disadvantage to using anything other than Thorn in Y1. You could kill faster than it with TLW, you could heal yourself up with RD to live. You could outshoot it with Hawkmoon. You could outrange it with scout rifles. Admittedly you couldn't use Autos against it but autos were pretty shit after the first two months and up until the HRoF buff.
There is nothing in Y1 that can compare to how stupidly strong Clever Dragon and Grasp before it are. There was actual competition in Y1 between guns that there isn't now. Y2 was fine. Even with its bullshit snipers, at least you could keep out of sniper lanes or simply outshoot them with something else if they missed the headshot.
Y3 is a fucking disaster.

I can't comment on Y3 because I've spent my time dicking around in Halo 5, so I'm pretty ignorant on Y3. I don't even know what the fuck Clever Dragon is because I only just got back into Destiny 3 days ago. I'll concede and say that I see your point and upon reflection I actually agree that PvP was more balanced. However, I'll never take back my opinion that TLW and Thorn were cancer and completely unfun to play against and that the PvP was more fun (for me anyway) during Y2 when they weren't as prevalent (even though Y2 had it's own cancer with Universal Remote and Doctrine) I didn't play on PS so I didn't have to deal with Hawkmoon so I wont comment on that but from what I heard and read it was pretty bullshit too. You could be right that Y3 PvP is worse, I haven't played it yet so I don't know, I just have a lot of bad memories of Y1 because the prevalent weapons were so antifun and it's hard for me to imagine it being less fun than that, I guess I'll find out in time. Best bet is juju simply because of the perks which let you keep killing with it or your super quick charging supers.
Outbreak is only okay because it also has a useful perk but its a less than ideal PVE/PVP archetype without the stability perks that make it useful ontop of killing things quicker than its perk can proc or being used against bullet sponges where the added damage from the proc not being really noticeable.
NTtE sucks because its perk requires all bullets hitting the head but the gun itself has a shit recoil pattern and a lot of recoil and thats generally not that great of a perk ontop of its body takes up almost half of your screen.
Red deaths not that great as far as pulse rifles go and do you actually need that health regen?

You might honestly be better off with the raid pulse and using an exotic in another slot.

Yeah a little over a year now. It gives side to side flinch as well though nowhere near as bad as the up-down of hical.
