At this point you should be getting close to 1m souls. If you aren't, farm these options, from highest reward to lowest:

(All of this is guaranteed 900,000, mobs and soul items should account for the rest, if you're still not there, farm the alonne knights in iron keep. Tseldora's set nets you another 136,000 from bosses if you want to look like a fool).

Shaded Woods, unlock the gate. Vengarl, then Darkdiver Grandahl
Drop down the Majula Pit, use the gutter skip, kill the giants and grab the forgotten key. Roll down, meet Darkdiver a second time.

I'm not sure if it would be harder or not. On the one hand, you're basically doing NG+ the whole time. On the other hand, you get a shitton of souls early on and you can be +10 SL70 before smelter demon and +10 SL120 before Drangleic castle. Probably depends on how you optimize, really.

On first glance, this seems very similiar to DaS1 to me.

So I just got done DS3 and I felt that the areas were generally smaller and bon fire placement was tight; the worst example being the dragon slayer armour and grand archives. I mean, it was still a challenge at points cause fuck the Pontiff Knights and Pontiff Sulyvahn. The game also felt very linear, like a very long and twisting hallway.

However, the red also knows he has to kill the host afterwards anyways.

27 str is an effective 40 while 2handing in das1, so 27str/40fth is good point investment. you don't have to use hammers, just any weapon that scales primarily with strength.

What's the deal with the Alva spawn past the Distant Manor bonfire? I want to get the armor set but the NPC refuses to spawn. On some sites people say that he doesn't spawn unless Sulyvahn has been defeated, others say the opposite. Some say that you need to be embered, some say you don't. What's the fucking deal?
On my first character, I remember him spawning after I killed Suly and was about to explore Irithyll dungeon. Now on my second he doesn't want to show up.

There's a hidden boss in Dark Souls 3 which is pretty much spelled out as Gwyn's firstborn who was lost to time/banished. It all fits very well.

You might not rule out Solaire as *a* son of Gwyn - a la Hercules or Perseus - because it would still fit thematically. However, that idea is pretty speculative. There's not really anything that suggests that Solaire is a god/human hybrid... just a skilled sun worshipper.

If you use an UGS, you have to use it for heavy punishment and trading. Basically, never approach.

This retarded country/city debate kind of reminded me:
Do you guys prefer 'open' levels in Souls like Road of Sac / AoA or do you prefer tightly built and controlled locations like 1-1 / Sen's Fortress / Grand Archives?

Personally I'm a fan of both because I like the freedom of 'open' maps and they often make me feel like there's more to explore than already is, but I also think that the combat system heavily favours built areas and works less well in open areas.

Seath is the most tragic DS character.

All he wanted was to be accepted, read his books, and live forever like the other dragons.

But unlike other tragic characters, he actually took matters into his own hands and DID something about it, becoming a badass in the process and actually achieving the closest thing to immortality in the series... all for some chosen undead to show up one day and try to kill him. Why? Because Gwyn decided to use the chosen undead as his personal hit squad by forcing him to kill off all of his allies before being able to kill his hollow bearded ass.

But even after that, Seath had a fuckin' plan to deal with the chosen undead by trapping him instead of blindly murdering him like the others. By DS1 Seath was still one of the last bastions of intelligence in a world that had gone to shit.

But nope. I need this arbitrary soul because Gwyn is a curmudgeony old dick, so we're gonna kill the last (known) dragon.

Seath is like if Otacon became Rambo, and the main player

As someone who enjoys other cultures and works in the soul gathering industry, the thought of acquiring much fewer souls, having to spend tons of time sprinting through 10 acres of land, resting a 2-3 bonfire warp (minimum) from any semblance of good souls, good weapons, or good enemies, having to do all my soul spending at whatever NPC is in this huge zone, AND always being 5-15 years behind graphically in the zone sounds like a waking nightmare. All just so I can get 'exploration' and 'lots of fun'.

You do you. But don't go around thinking that people only like small zones because they have to, some of us like being ahead of the curve.

I like both, as long as they are used in extreme.

Painted world can be open, Forest of Fallen Giants should be tight. But what's important is that when they're tight or open they FEEL tight or open and the game uses that to its advantage.

Frozen Outskirts, Painted World, Anor Londo, etc. were some of my favorite areas for that reason. They were VAST and open and you felt like a small invader.

But then Drangleic Castle, Sen's Fortress, and Iron Keep are also some of my favorite areas too, because of the sensation of having to slowly work your way through a complicated, tight fortress.

If all the levels in the game were the same (or if the open/tight areas never utilized their design as part of the aesthetic) then it would be really boring.

he only did that because he didn't want you to respawn infinitely and killing him through attrition/dumb luck.

Jesus christ I'm way too terrible to be juggling these spells in group pvp but it's fun.
