Rocklet with anything other than typhoons loaded is worthless in my opinion; the regular shots have too little potential damage per magazine, the locklets are a fucking joke for multiple reasons but the Typhoons feel like they're in a good place.

It's a force multiplier when combined with HAs, you keep the pressure on while the HA is reloading and the enemy vehicle will have far fewer choices.

I like this addition but people who waste 500 certs on locklets are going to be super disappoint.

I was thinking about a warhammer planetside when an idea came to my mind.

Basically there are 3 larger bases in the middle of the map. If you take one of them it becomes a warpgate but with the difference that it can be conquered back. However it gives a bonus that protects all your normal bases from capturing (locks them down) as long as the warpgate is yours, but only on your main warpgate side of the map (see pic). In other words, if you capture a middle warpgate, you can now conduct campagns to capture further enemy territory while only having to defend the middle warpgate.

For that you get 23 more RPM and Soft point ammo that extends maximum damage range by 5 m (you can triple headshot people up to 15m, which is nice).

EM6 has straight up recoil like Gauss SAW, it's easy to use.

Worse than that, the higher RoF also lets bullets hit more consistently, which is particularly important when shooting at lagwizards and anyone peeking a corner thanks to prefiring. With a TR or VS weapon you can shoot and still be guaranteed damage application. With NC weapons your shots miss and the "high alpha" doesn't make up for it in the rare times a shot connects - the TTK skyrockets as soon as you're dealing with connection issues or lagwizards.

Damage vs RoF has to increase at an exponential or logarithmic rate, not linear.

That is why, for example, a bolt action sniper rifle kills in 1 headshot or 2 bodyshots. If you made it even something like 2HS / 3BS it'd be useless.

The current damage / RoF curve starts fucking up as soon as you go past 143 tier weapons. Everything 167 and up is fucked until you reach some of the scout / sniper rifles.

server instability = greater variability in damage application

Fundamentally there is a maximum possible amount of damage a gun can do - 100% accuracy.

High RoF weapons all have higher DPS and lower TTK at 100% accuracy than low RoF weapons. That's an advantage right from the start.

When we introduce network lag, we decrease the reliability of damage application. However, intermittent problems are smoothed over with high frequencies of damage application. Movement can be corrected for without re-acquiring lead, as is necessary with a burst-fired high alpha low RoF weapon. ADAD'ing players who teleport back and forth receive more consistent damage because there's a higher likelihood of bullets hitting in their location before they teleport to the side, and spraying over the general area applies more consistent damage where a low RoF weapon becomes highly variable and RNG-based.

So you end up with a situation like pic related, where not only do the high RoF weapons have higher damage potential damage at the outset, they ALSO apply more reliable damage as network reliability decreases. Where low RoF weapons get even more unreliable and deal even less damage per unit of network latency the worse the network gets.

I have 50% playtime as heavy

I only play engineer in order to repair vehicles and never any other time. Therefore 25% of the time I'm in a vehicle, and 75% of the time I am either a heavy or a vehicle (engineer).

The other 25% of the time is mostly infiltrator / medic / max. I've barely played light assault at all. I'd probably play light assault more often with an actual squad dedicated to it though.

I bought a small SSD (60gb, second hand, cost me £20) just for PS2 and it was a vast improvement for my aging system.

Before the SSD it took over a minute for me to get from player select to actually being in-game.

Once I put the game on SSD that came down to just 20 seconds. All loading screens are far shorter, my framerate seems more stable too though I'm not sure if that's just confirmation bias.

What's general opinion on modded controllers?

I never fucked with one because fuck paying 100 bucks for a controller, but I just received pic related as Xmas gift from well-meaning fiancee.

I've experimented with some of the features (autosprint, recoil control, mapping shit to the paddles, etc.) and it's pretty dope. I've begun to question the 'eliteness' of some of the so-called mlg type players after experiencing the benefits of modded controllers.

Thoughts?

I play on PC, but really, especially with vehicles, you're not giving yourself an edge. With infantry, you've still got to deal with atrocious analogue stick aim. No amount of controller complexity can make up for that.

I mean, there are people on PC who use macros so semi's are full auto, full potato-mode on modern systems, any little thing to gain an edge over the 15fps ultra graphics masses.

Not to slander those who run those settings (I do too), but there are so many variables in this game that really, unless you're actually cheating, don't feel bad.

Bonus if you're VS or TR, you don't really have recoil anyway, so mitigating it is probably more of a placebo.

I imagine it'd be easier on PC, but on PS4 because of the sticks, what recoil there is feels more pronounced. I'm not really a FPS guy; played Eve for years, got into DUST514 because Minja/knives. Typical infantry k/d for me is around 0.65-0.7. I ran infantry for a solid 2 hours last night when she presented me with my gift and hovered around 1.0-1.1.
