Ratting in low sec is decent isk.
Loot from mobs in wormhole gas sites is really good too.

I just started recently, is there an updated resource for ships that are actually good?

I keep getting people recommending sources that say stuff like the Rifter is a tier 1 ship, while others say it's nerfed and is trash now. A friend in real life gave me 150 mill ingame, so I wanna muck around with some fits and see what I like. So far I've only being tackling in small gang PVP, which is a lot of fun, but I want to try it all and work towards a good ship eventually.

These are the most commonly flown ships because they're not expensive and do not take ages to train.

You can do most things anyone else can do, you won't be perfect at them. No cloaking though

You'd probably be better off with rapid light missile launchers instead of heavies. There are a lot of frigates and destroyers in lv3s which your heavies won't apply well to. Also like >>163026081 said, one or two less resists and more buffer. The diminishing returns go something like 100%, 80%, 50%, fucking nothing.

Cloaked web+scramble frigates. I usually meet 1-3 of them at a time in small groups. Naturally my Heron isn't up to the task of dispatching them
Basically looking for the smallest ship to fit a scanner probe launcher, weapons, and MWD/AB. Anything sub cruiser. My Corax isn't quite up to the task either.

The Jackdaw can do it, but I'm not sure I want to put a 50mil~ ship+fit on the line just yet.
