What exactly killed the game and why are people flocking to fresh start servers?

I've mostly played MMOs for the PVE (raiding) scene but have tried PVP here and there. Is the game more focused around PVP?

This is entirely in my experience, but the game was pretty good for a couple months after launch. There were a couple problems of course, but personally I could ignore most of them. It started going downhill when there were gameplay items on the cash shop rather than just cosmetics, but it only got really really bad when trion started putting crates on the cash shop that had a random chance of giving rare crafting materials, and then people figured out how to exploit them and remove the randomness, basically picking which item they'd get. Then they added a box that basically could get you a thunderstruck tree, and soon the price on the market for thunderstruck logs tanked, everybody got and their mother could afford a farm cart, shit was fucked. Then everybody just kind of stopped playing.

So I've never played this game before, if I plan to spend zero money on it how is it compared to say Black Desert?

Need some advice. I've already put down a thatched, 8x8, and a 16x16 cottage. I just got my large scarecrow, there's a spot for it connected to my other stuff. Is it going to be worth it, considering the tax cost, to have all that land placed? I'm tempted to go with just the thatched and a 16x16 scarecrow or just the thatched and a cottage so I'll save on taxes by only having 2 properties.

For you people on the early start servers with patron, how much better is the queue? I didn't want to patron and im stuck at 700+ for a while now. If patrons are getting in right away I might, but if theres another 200 person patron queue ill just wait till the hype dies down a bit in a week.

That would make sense if this was a world in which that SHOULD actually be a problem, but why should server slots even be a problem? I've played many MMOs and I have never seen queues that have not only been this egregious and experience ruining, but unstable too. The fact you can wait in queue for two or three hours, get into the game and DC 10 minutes in just to end up in a similar or even worse queue with no recompense is abhorrent.I can understand the concept of paid players getting better queues, but queues should never be this bad even for a free player when any competing MMO wouldn't have this problem. I believe this is just Trion either being incompetent or cheap. Servers never should be this bad and this is a sign of bad business practice if they think people will want to pay them money after this launch.

Oh yeah, most certainly. The original lauch wasn't so bad. It was kinda hard to get on for the first week or so, but you wouldn't fucking get DC'd 10 minutes in. Also: DISASTER isn't "killing" shit. They lose all fights where the numbers are even or in our favor, ad the only content they get is what they sneak before our members get home from work.

End game when I left was just shitty world bosses and the Ayanad Ring from the Library quests.

PvP was always meant to be endgame, but the horrible imbalances from p2w veteran players and the new players was always apparent. Basically, I always got fucked because I had amazing gear but was on the wrong continent, so whenever PvP happened, I got swarmed by too many people even though I had top level gear.
Also, I grinded purses to fund everything, which they nerfed into the ground after making archeum too plentiful and removing jackpots and Jester purses from auroria.
Not to mention nerfing the rarity of haunted chests.
