Unless the country is an isolated war-torn inland one everybody else got equalized and are roughly on the same level.
This made the game quite unbalaced with Asia being overpowered and pulling normally impossible stunts and fighting toe to toe with europeans.

Sigmar mitt uns! After the Empress consolidated the powers of the emperor she created the army her father envisioned: pikemen, handgunners, and repeating rifles formed the bulk of the new army while being supported by cannons and steam tanks.
This new army formation was first tested out in the invasion of Bretonnia, in which the Empress gambled out it; a very risky move indeed.

Fortunely, the invasion was successful and the backward armies of Bretonnia, made almost entirely of mounted knights, simple infantry and archers were massacred by the powerful pike and shot formations of the Empire.

After the invasion of Bretonnia the Empress offered two choices for the ruling nobles: either accept become part of the Empire and the authority of Her Majesty while freeing the peasants from their oppressive feudal bindings and modernizing the country by accepting free trade and letting artisans and merchants prosper; or be crushed under by the new order and have all their property seized by the Empress. The nobles accepted the first choice relutanctly after witnessing the complete massacre of their armies.

Estalia, Tilea, Albion, Sartosia and Kislev were the next to fall and were imposed conditions similar to the ones in Bretonnia, but were much less reluctant. Albion and Sartosia were special cases, though: the first was a tribal society that had to accept impactant modernizations and the second was a pirate island that had many of it's traditions restricted but mostly preserved.

In the end, the imperial authority spreaded around most of the human realm under dozens of cultures and four main religions of the same pantheon.

In the UK, on the other hand, the Monarchy didn't fall violently, but was instead phased out of power slowly, and the resulting republic has been much more stable. Same can be said for the Scandinavian countries.
