This is indisputably the best 5-man composition for leveling through the whole game with as a group.

>Tank - Warrior
>Support - Shaman
>Healer - Priest
>DPS - Rogue
>DPS - Mage

The Armour requirements are spread out over all plate, mail, leather and cloth so that there is the minimum conflict when rolling for loot.

Mage utility like portals and conjure food are great and combined with rogue's sap we have at least 2 CC. Rogue lock-pick is good to have as is Shaman's reincarnation incase the whole group wipes.

Although I would like to have it so that the DPS are both either ranged or melee so they could benefit from the same shaman totem. But I suppose the only way to do that while fulfilling the armor loot constraint would be to replace the rogue with a balance druid.

What do you guys think?

What usually happens on P servers is premades dominate PVP and neets poopsock and don't leave the Q EVER.

I'm pretty pumped to play vanilla again. I've never played Alliance before, so its gonna be fun leveling through zones I've only seen as a ganker before. Always play/level as a Tauren resto shaman, gonna play as the only alliance race I like this time around, new class is always fun. Any tips for someone who's never played/leveled as priest before, or is it too straightforward to worry about?

What is the best class? I want to raid, but don't know which class to play with, since the Vanilla doesn't seem to have a class I'm interested in.

Yep, for sure.
A lot of people will say you need to neet it up hardcore, and to be fair you kind of do to get server first 60 or get high warlord.
But there are several casual friendly guilds that don't expect everyone to be doing that, and lots of people with similar situations to yourself. Whether its pug MC or your guild is just advancing slowly, it's totally doable. If anything, the struggle for you with guild stuff would be more finding one that raids at times you can make rather than keeping up. As long as you're honest and are efficient about advancing your character in the time you have, you'll be fine.
This of course means you won't be pushing bleeding edge or anything, but that's totally okay. Private servers tend to have a lot more tryhards than retail vanilla had but only the REALLY autistic people care that much if you're a little behind.

One thing i'd suggest is getting familliar with leveling routes and whatnot, as well as researching where you'll be obtaining your pre-bis.
Nost is fuckhuge and you'll be able to find people at all hours at all levels and you may even find some cool friends. The /vg/ guild, while a horrible place to make friends, is a great place for casual leveling.

Depends what you mean by "viable".
On nost, sotc is bugged and for leveling dungeons paladins are actually decent dps compared to everyone else. If i was a warrior tank i'd still choose someone else so he didn't take my shit, but still - and even without the bugs for leveling dungeons pretty much ANY dps is fine assuming you have someone to cc.
At 60 no dps at all, it's just worthless. If you're someone's girlfriend or the raidleader you can get a spot.
Same deal kind of with tanking, while leveling paladin can tank but it's certainly not the best especially when there are buttloads of warriors around. If you seriously can't find a warrior to put on a shield and the paladin has consecration, then it's doable for sure. I'd still prefer a druid if i had to choose (non warrior, i mean) but whatever. Again, at 60 it typically doesn't happen outside of niche encounters and even holy can offtank if necessary.
You can heal while leveling no matter the spec you're in.
DISCLAIMER: this is not advocating for you to dps or tank, just saying it doesn't matter that fucking much while leveling.

I've played a lot of games right at launch, and one month into the game the majority of those guilds on the forums will be dead ends.

A lot of people playing the new server aren't going to stay. It'll definitely have more population than the original servers, but a lot of people are going in are doing so because of nostalgia and will likely get tired quickly.
