You can easily disable channels in the config. Make sure you remove all cables that use channels though or your world could get corrupted.

Also I think there's a mod that adds AE1 recipes so you don't have to use inscribers and shit (but still can).

Look into Immersive Engineering. I think it has the type of aesthetic you're looking for. Functionally it does ore processing and some autocrafting. Nothing to advanced. You should also have some sort of tubes mod like thermal dynamics or build craft, even though those look a bit modern.

Factorization is kind of that, but it's a fucking all over the place mess desu.
There's awesome Flaxbeards Wondrous Steam Power, but it has almost no content and the team managing it does nothing with it but fixes some obscure bugs one in half a year. Cogs of the Machine did manage do drag itself to 1.7.10 after years later dying but it turned out it was just decomposition gasses farting out propelling it's body into 1.7.10, it's as dead as it was and has virtually no content. Rotarycraft is a mix of electrical\mechanical power, but mostly it falls under mechpower mods, it just has some shit like diesel engines to generate shafts work, so check that out i guess.

you can do most of this by just crafting, but that wastes resources and tool durability

and you can automate it, since you can either drop items in or pipe them in; you can set it up to pour out automatically; you can use sensors to emit redstone and control it in various ways.
and you can use electric heaters. and in case you want it easier there's RF powered heaters and engines and such included; you just have to minetweak in recipes for them.

I like how steam is now converted to other forms of energy. steam into an engine to make KU for powering crushers (macerators) and such. turbines for rotational energy (for centrifuges and such) and further into dynamoes for generating EU.

pure heat units for warming up crucibles, powering GT furnaces or heating up boilers for steam.

the whole system is just more thought out compared to earlier iterations of GT

I've gotten into IndustrialCraft 2 (1.10.2-3) recently. It seems to be lacking a major feature - some sort of item transportation pipes. Since Buildcraft, which complements IC2 in its capacities quite nicely, is yet to be updated, I googled around and it turns out EnderIO offers a decent alternative: item conduits.

The problem is, EnderIO is heavily "magitech" themed, adds hundreds of items and blocks (powered differently than the IC2 ones), adds some new mobs and generally puts a strain on the server. I am just not into that.

All I want is the Item Conduit and a few upgrades. I even went as far whipping out a CraftTweaker script that changes the recipes which use EnderIO-exclusive items - to its nearest equivalent in either IC2 or vanilla, so I wouldn't have to rely on any EIO "technology".

So effectively, I want to disable every single feature (mob, recipe, worldgen and ore stuff, items, blocks, mechanics) of EnderIO except Item Conduit and its upgrades.

I looked at EnderIO.cfg, but as it does contain some settings regarding some minor mechanics and tweaks, I can't find anything related to blacklisting/whitelisting its features or components.

Is there a mod for this or am I missing something?

Aside from the combat rework, is there anything that makes 1.8 shit? I never noticed how shitty 1.7.10's coding was until I started up a server and kept switching back and forth between 1.7.10 and 1.8 while weighing the pros and cons. In 1.7, when flying around to generate new chunks, I always had to stop for 5-15 seconds, sigh, check my watch and read a book or some shit while waiting for less than a dozen new chunks to load before flying forward, stopping for another 5-15 seconds and waiting all over again. Shit was unbearable. But with the same world and plugins in 1.8 I could fly forward forever without ever having to stop while new chunks generated around me. That alone made me seriously consider going with a 1.8 server before I scrapped the idea altogether

My estimate is that the Windows 10 version will provide that by 2018, albeit with limitations. It's an abstraction layer inspired by Bukkit, but with limited means to modify/add game content.

Closest thing I found was using Custom Ore Generation and in the settings having the Vein size about 3 and the frequency about 0.6 or something. Gives you big ore deposits infrequently for anyone who wants to build various depots and have them ship their goods to central processing.

I mean the idea of big, infrequent deposits may sound fun but the reality won't be pleasant when you can't even go caving to unwind yourself with some spooky caves adventuring and your gameplay is reduced to holding down two buttons while staring at nothing for hours.
It's not an optimal solution either, but have you looked at Reasonable Realism? It has similar approach with big infrequent veins, but also has Sluice mechanics for an early jumpstart in metals and such, and also has flowers-indicators for all basic metals and resources (vanilla, copper, tin, uranium, platinum, etc.) that grow on surface near veins and can reveal veins by bonemealing suspected areas so at least your ore-hunting is fairly predictable and consistent instead of a fucking GT torture?

Could be a system like Terrafirma craft uses.

You can find little tidbits of the mineral above ground where it would generate. Like a little rock of iron ore above the iron deposit, possibly find a small bit of some mineral when you're breaking apart stone underground.

I really wish I could make mods now.

I know this isnt the common type of autism, but I like making modded quests, the thing is that I want to know what do you think about the idea:
You start either as a crimson army conqueror (heavily armored and stronger weapons) or as a tribemen (a combination of tibet monks and eskimos, having greater health pool and poisonous weapons). So depending which idea gets developed (might do both later) you either climb a 220 height mountain and then travel a long way on to the tribemen village or focus on defending the village from the crimson army.
It will either have gunz like in pic related or more medieval weaponry like bows or swords and an idea also is to implement temperature features given that its in an alps biome.

So what do you think about the idea? is it autistic enough that youll play it? pic related is a representation of the idea.

I would like to make parts of minecraft that are more Factorio like in a way, where you can make automatic mines, and have mineral deposits and automatic crafting benches and such.

But I would like a more Steampunkish/Industrial Revolution style than sci-fi like.

Maybe with some low tech options too like panning for minerals, if you find an area that has a mineral deposit in it, either by picking up rocks of the ore it contains, finding tidbits in broken stone or actually finding the mineral deposit directly, you could like scoop up sand or gravel and pan it out in water over that chunk to get more tidbits, and using a sluice to automate it too.

You could try Project E, there's an addon for it that adds EMC values to every Thaumcraft item, including things from other TC addons because it calculates everything based on recipes. From there you could try figuring out a reward system to get basic items and creative node items, I don't know.
The usual skyblock grinding mods like Ex Nihilo also have some TC integration that let you get shards, I think.

It changes stone from the usual Mojang Gray, and that's it. The default 32x32 textures are awful but you can easily replace them with the mod's old default 16x16, which look good enough for me. I have no idea why they changed the textures.

It let me combine item pipes, liquid pipes and power pipes into a single block and had a really nice sorting and diverting system that added in making incredibly compact pipe systems compared to other mods I had worked with.

Here's the thing that I learned when doing modding.
Never have more than one or two full feature mods. Never. You will always need a focus on something otherwise you'll undermine the other to the point where there's no more reason to play anymore. Getting far ahead in one mod subsequently diverts any purpose and objectives away from any other mod. It's best to have multiple profiles with multiple worlds focused on different mods. Something like Industrialcraft should be separate in my opinion at all times - anytime I want to play Industrialcraft I play Industrialcraft and that only, regardless of the other 20 feature mods I put up. Same goes with Thaumcraft, if I don't focus on doing what Thaumcraft needs me to do I don't do it, and if I do focus, I don't do anything else.
It sucks to realize your world is bloated with 3 exact ore types and random encounters which are physically irrelevant between modpacks.

Have a general "utility" set of mods which would benefit overall, such as biomes, NEI, Waila etc./whatever, and avoid placing in full feature mods. In your case you have AcademyCraft, ArcaneEngineering, ArmourersWorkshop, Automagy, CookingBook, DraconicEvolution, Forbidden Magic, Genndustry, Immersive Engineering, MCA, Millenaire, MineFactory, Roguelikee, Tainted Magic, Technnomancy, Thaumcraft, ThermalF/E/D & Witchery. It's hard to tell in your case, but I'd guarantee myself I would not cover quarter of those in my gameplay if I am to play this modpack. It's a waste.

small fps increase at normal scenes. I'm currently watching an RTG forest from close and I'm getting ~195 fps w/o and ~215 fps w/ fastcraft. the culling tweaks from the 1.2x versions really helped with complex scenery like when I was surrounded by RTG mountains.

My issue isn't realism but immersion.

Usually, I can simply say "things only happen in Steve?'s presence" and pretend the world works that way. Maybe he? is special, maybe the whole world is inside his? mind, who knows. With a chunkloader, though, I'm constantly reminded

1. the belief above is false - things can happen regardless of where Steve? is.
2. the world is divided in chunks. This has zero to do with lore or ambience, it's just because it's a game in a computer with finite processing power and memory.

I have similar issues with certain mods that refer directly to mods inside the game - like WAILA.

Yes, all biome fuckery happens in bedrock-sky columns, so if you stuff bloom on the bedrock or up on the mountain it'll clean everything in it's effective horizontal range anyway.

Just found out that the EvilCraft fish reactor doesn't work with work with witches or other mobs that use heal potions because spikes outdamage their healing. The only way for them to work is with mobs that have an actual, strong regen effect, so pretty much only GoG mermaids and nagas underwater unless your modpack wants you kill.

I found that weird because when you search for the uses of osmium ore that little bit of iridium doesn't show up in the crusher's recipes, but when you look for iridium's recipes it shows up. It's probably just a very generous rounding indeed.
In any case, it needs more investigation so I guess I'll forget a crusher being fed an infinite amount of osmium ore somewhere for a while to see what happens.
