Why does my TR heavy assault weapon have such a big cone of fire when I start firing? I notice my other weapons don't do this. Do I need to stand still for a brief moment before firing or something? It's fumbled a lot of kills for me. When I tried out NC their gun had this issue too.

200/500 damage model doesn't work. It should be more like 215/500 or 220/500 with a reduced CoF spread so you can shoot 2-3 more bullets (as in, enough bullets to actually kill someone) before the CoF becomes an RNGfest. Right now it's RNG after the first 4.

But we can't do that because then it's stepping on battle rifle territory. Battle rifles are universally fucking awful too, but that doesn't prevent them from existing to keep the gauss saw from being buffed up to a useful level.

And all the saltyvets on TR / VS have convinced themselves that the gauss saw is overpowered so any necessary buffs will start a whinefest like we saw with 0.75 and medkit changes.

3.4x scope is only good on the gauss saw because it's so ineffective at shorter ranges that you'd be a fool to use it there over a more competently designed weapon like a GD-22S, EM1, or Anchor.

Basically, the 3.4x memescope is a bandaid on a fundamental problem with the gauss saw design. Which is that 95% of the fighting in this game takes place within 30m and having a gun primarily designed for fighting past 30m, while all the CQC lmg's it competes against maintain effectiveness even to 50m, is absolutely stupid. The situations where you benefit more from using a long range support LMG instead of a CQC lmg are miniscule.

About the only advantage that arises from it is the fact that acting more as a support unit in a fight by fighting at a longer distance means you're less often prioritized as an effective target to engage and so your KDR is artificially inflated in comparison to the CQC lmg's as a result.

But then that gets turned on its head as an argument against the gauss saw, because while it remains an ineffective weapon, the best use-case situation inflates kdr (to the detriment of kpm) so that people argue they're just as good if not better with the gauss saw than many other weapons (but then they go and use all those other weapons whenever they can, instead)

tl;dr saltyvets who think the gauss saw is good either suffer from 'grass-is-greener' syndrome or can't positively attribute any reasons for why it's good, and aside from the fallback of "lol 3 headshot!!" like some fucking dwarf fortress 2cat memeer, they can never actually articulate what's so fucking good about it. In aggregate examination of statistical data you actually find the gun is pretty pathetic even in the hands of most of the best players, performing in the bottom 5th percentile amongst a host of other shitty lmg's.

Typhoon in all situations.

You're not going to be locking on to anything that isn't AFK thanks to the long base lock-time and the extremely short lock distance, they also have considerably less DPS than the normal rocklets.

The typhoons lose the flak ability but that's already so small to begin with that any rocklets that explode into flak were almost certainly going to hit the ESF anyway, making it a moot point.

Typhoon is the only one that will let you panic kill someone too, you get caught with anything else in your hand and you're dead.
