Managed to fix it though. Weird error too. The way the torrent client saved it, the game folder was nested in a folder with the same name so it looked like gamename/gamename. When I moved all the files into the top folder it worked.

I don't really feel like I ever needed to "grind". I just did quest after quest. If you do all the side quests before main quest trials, and don't skip out on optional bosses and stuff, you should quite frankly stay overlevelled even without any grind.
Though I do admit that it's occasionally optimal to go relatively long stretches without porn unless you go out of your way to seek the porn events. At certain points in the game where such content may be a bit unbalanced. Which may feel counter intuitive if one goes into the game with porn first and foremost on their mind, which one very well might considering it being eroge.
Likewise though, the game has some pretty amazing almost fully porn focused chapters/branches too though, like Coldia's mega prison island. Which not only rich with great and varied kinds of porn, but pretty much turns into its own entire little game within the game. Loved it.

But I never felt like I needed to grind.
I 100%d the game in 22 hours of playtime.

I couldn't open most of the CG scenes, basically you run around in the timeline you're in and gather clothing by fucking mobs.
After you get all the CG or not - up to you - you change timeline and do the same thing with the Heroine older - chubbylike.
Get pregnant all the time from different stuff and open new CGs for each type of clothing you have on, some mobs only accept sex if you have X clothing, some areas only open if you have X clothing.

Just tried out KI-SofT's demo of their new game, Kuroyokami.

Really enjoying the body modding options you get for your personal meatslave, but there's not really much in the way of gameplay.

SBPR was a good gameplay+story+sex game in theory and a trainwreck in practice because ILLUSION cannot into programming. And even then it was closer to AG4 than what you listed.

AG3 was all about you interacting with a harem of your self-made waifus via sex and distance (proximity), with sex being based on actual player's skills of adapting to the girl's reaction (as opposed to casualised/retard-friendly 'click to advance' approach ILLUSION took in later games).
That's all there was: (almost limitless) customization, engaging sex (not a sex scene viewer) and (MC-girl and girl-girl) interaction. As such, true sequel to AG3 must have all of that at the very least. SBPR wasn't it, but it was all the current ILLUSION was capable of, which would still resemble AG3.
Hopefully them going VR nowadays will force them to improve sex and interaction.
