The game's combat system, after fifteen years of iterating, is much faster and arcadey now with animation cancels and fancy moves and what have you. Mastering the manual timing on defensive/evasive steps/rolls is a thing, there's really nothing like the psuedo-RNG evasion that previous games had.

Emergency Quests are periodic events that pop up every now and then (randomly and/or prescheduled) which range from more or less regular quests with a time limit (and 11 other people) to "raids" against gigantic bosses like Dark Falz. For good or ill a lot of the game's focus is on these.

I didn't like PSU anywhere near as much as PSO but id still disagree with this. The only thing that was a disaster was the NA servers because Sega of America is completely incompetent. Should I roll with Ice or Fire for a general purpose FO/TE build? Probably gonna buy a second tree for the other element later if I like FO but for now I just want to focus on one.
TE is obviously Wind/Light, is Illbarta still worth it for bossing if I already have Ragrants or would I be better off with the mobbing techs Fire gets me?

It's more of a "why not" rather than a "why". I mostly do it to see if I CAN do it, rather than the mindset of "it's not useful why bother even doing it as a whole". Having a ring that's around level 10-12 is basically "I could've paid my way to obtain this", having a level 20 ring is more "either I paid a shitload, or maybe it wasn't a fluke that I cleared it the first time".
