The only people who really hate this are people who want things that don't matter for free. Call it entitlement or spoiled children, the truth is it funds the game. At the end of the day why should blizzard listen to people who just run up their server costs but won't spend more than the bare minimum on the game over the course of it's lifetime?

yeah it would usually except for one problem. The game just stops being fun.
enemies start hitting like trucks even when you're leveled enough to face up to them and bosses have instakill moves, a lot of them aoe, and incline you to keep using up your continues so that you don't have to start over from scratch and keep all of the equipment you prepared for it.
the scam is that they ease you into a potentially fun game and then show you why it's actually f2p.
