Pretty much this, I just ignore what Bungie did after Halo 3. I do feel like 343 are Halo fans that care about the universe but the problem is they're Halo fans that care about the universe not the creators. It's a good comparison between Gunpei Yokoi's Metroid and Sakamoto's Metroid. Yokoi's Metroid was just a fun game about exploration, Sakamoto's Metroid was felt more like fan fiction due to the fact that Metroid is Sakamoto's passion that he cherish.

Source is one guy in one interview meanwhile its common knowledge that Reach only exists because of contractual issues. Reach, in some regards, was everything they wanted because it was a complete package. Hardly anything was cut, they greatly improved forge, added tons of customization, had tons of game modes, firefight and content. The body armor lacked variation but the helmets and other customization was top notch. Forge World is a massive canvas and the space was actually used quite a lot as maps were made all over it. It doesn't all have to be used in a single map. Still including firefight was a good thing and provided extra content to those that cared, I wasn't a fan but a lot of people actually enjoyed it. Okay let's begin.

The game starts off poorly by dropping players off in a field running around for most of the time. This section could have been great if your team had you search for the beacon and bring it back too them. The game drags out the Covenant's introduction when no game in the series ever did this. When the Covenant finally makes their grand appearance your team is not even shocked all we get is "the contact is the damn Covenant" and an even worse "The Covenant are on Reach". I still get very confused on the transitions to different levels in the game thinking I completely missed something because the group is always somewhere else in the next cutscene. The first level takes way to long to introduce Elites and most of the massive areas in each mission is empty. The space gameplay was boring and a massive disappointment since I thought it was going to be like the space combat from Halo 1-3 cutscenes, Brutes AI seemed to have been dumbed down considerately to the point of sticking them selves with their on grenades more than they did in Halo 2 and 3. I did not understand why Chieftains had Power Armor when Elites restricted Brutes from wearing them. The game really didn't have much of a plot until Cortana got shoehorned in, I didn't understand why Brutes, Drones, and Phantoms were in the game when they weren't in Halo 1. The game tries to get you to care for Noble Team but all the members just feel cliche as hell and die off far too quickly. Lee Wilson (the story and cinematic lead) should have played through Halo 1-3 and read through the novels and comics because Reach had some serious canoncal issues with other things in the series. most of the levels felt boring and mediocre compared to anything in the trilogy and their was nothing to really catch the eyes. I found myself getting bored as the campaign kept locking me in areas to defend this and that. The ally AI was terrible, they would either kill me or commit suicide.

Boo hoo, they both had messed up campaigns dues to Microsofts interference but Halo 2s still turned out half decent and Microsofts interference in 2 is actually well documented by actual employees in this instance rather than rumours. Halo 2s multiplayer changed drastically from CE but was and is touted as the best in the franchise and Halo 2 didn't have a whole lineage of numbered games that it was fucking with by having dramatic changes and was the first game to target online multiplayer.

The AI would drive me off cliffs, snipe me, or use a Rocket Launcher on themselves and to make maters worse they lasted about 5 seconds in battle. vehicle combat sucked compared to Halo 1-3 and the game didn't have something to push Halo's sandbox to the limit. I would have loved a level in the Super Carrier or to be on a massive field taking out AA guns and Scarabs at the same time. The Covenant just felt like monsters that I was killing and felt like they served no purpose but to be my enemies in the game. I was wondering where all the Spartan IIs were on Reach and what the hell was going on with all the time issues and plot inconsistencies. Armor Abilities were sprinkled around like candy and didn't really serve much of a purpose but just to be their and for unknown reasons when enemies died, they never dropped them. The game makes a reference that you need to leave that lone wolf stuff behind but you are barely with your team in this game. I was hooping the planet looked alien and unique like what I visioned after reading the fall of Reach but felt disappointed when I finally saw that the planet just looked like an ugly version of Earth. After playing Reach once I just couldn't bring myself to ever play that campaign again I even enjoyed Halo 4 and 5 campaigns more.

It's not like they hit a physical barrier like real athletes do, and they can play until almost 40 before they hit a serious decline (depending on the position)

He skirmished with the winner of last year's Halo Champions League and won pretty handily.

It will be a while before he is rivaled, and by the time he is it will probably have more to do with him being middle aged with shit reaction times than because the other guy is that good.

Well, there is the issue of reaction time, but that's a negligible issue in a Game like Halo compared to experience and accuracy. Plus men can train their reaction time with certain exercises to essentially extend its period of being most efficient into the 30s (Navy Seals do this constantly).

The bigger issue however has to do with social stigma. It's just a young man's "sport". As long as the average Halo player is a teenager, it's going to just feel more... off... to see a late 20-something competing in the pro leagues. Most teams are also not going to want to sign someone outside of their age range.

This is already changing now however with games like overwatch where some of the top ranked players are almost 30, but the trend may have shifted to little to late, as Halo's esports scene is largely a joke now.
Ironic, considering it was the game that jumpstarted mlg in the first place.
