I don't get why so many people fails to understand the point of AP and AK.

AP is there as horizontal progression, and grows in a way that encourage people to put points in multiple specs, or to play 2 characters at once with a main and an alt. The more AP you have the less it is worth.
AK is there to time gate the growth of the character to prevent autists from running away, and how passive it is is actually perfect for alts because you can log, do the AK research, and you are done. AK is almost made to stop mains from being too good compared to your alt.

And yet people assume that they have to put everything in one character, one spec, and not care about anything else they have.

I am a new player looking forward to getting into mythic dungeons. There's some I still haven't ran +0 on yet though, is there a great difference between running the heroics of something and the mythic versions? Just to get a firm grasp on mechanics before I start trying to join keystone groups.
