my main class (rogues) are so outdated in legion it is sad. and because rogues represent a lower population than a lot of other classes specific specs blizzard have them at a lower priority.
Rogues are no longer the assassins in pvp who rely on stealth and excel at 1v1 doing huge damage. They now do poor damage unless specced in their main pvp spec in which case they do average damage but the enemy classes still have their anti stealth rogue abilities geared towards curb stomping deadly glass canons. Hell even demonhunters are anti rogue because they can straight up see rogues in stealth.
I am absolutely convinced that the guys in charge of pvp just plain hate rogues and want to phase them out of the game and replace them with monks.

It's purely anecdotal but when i was browsing the huge "class servers update" thread on bnet, I made a point to see what servers the people white knighting blizzard were, and by FAR most of them were posting from characters on PVE servers (a lot of RPPVE as well).
I'm sure there's some confirmation bias involved and I didn't write down exact numbers because that's weirder than I was already being, plus forums don't necessarily mean jack shit.

I just had a similar experience earlier this morning. I joined the discord for a guild that is planning to raid on the fresh server at times I can make, and had a weird "interview". The dude grilled me about past raiding experiences and wanted to see a picture of my UI and keybinds. He was also requiring 12 hour days at launch and staying in discord voice the entire time.
I'm fine with voice for raids, groups, premades, whatever, but holy fuck i don't want to listen to other retards babble and breathe for 12 hours while I'm escaping durotar or even while comfy questing in the barrens. That sounds intolerable.

There were even "experienced" guilds crumbling away. Look at GRIZZLY - they threw a fit because they poopsocked to MC then were told they would have to wait 3 months for BWL. The guild fell apart, and they quit playing on the server. Now their GM abandoned them, several officers left, and they're trying to scrape together a solid core for the fresh server.

It's solid, yeah. If you mean the talents, they are good starting points but factor in only optimal questing and zero pvp. Also keep in mind some nost-specific bugs like consecration mean that it's probably better to go 11 in holy first for paladins. Could also argue arms for warriors, more pvp oriented rogue builds, etc. But all up to the individual.
As for guides, they are decent. The main ones are joana/jame. One (or both? i forget) may have some quests that got added in the tbc pre-patch but following either will get you to 60 as long as you remember to kill shit as you are traveling.
They're also written from hunter pov so there may be a few elite quests that could be difficullt for another class to solo depending on spec.
Vanillaguide is an addon that incorporates the step by steps from the written guides. Questie is decent as well to know where to go, and also an addon that I'm forgetting the name of, but it brings up old wowhead comments into the quest frame for you to scroll and see advice people wrote (like "the quest item is at x/x" or "appears to have an x min spawn timer")

you get fucked by warriors if you don't play 100% perfectly, even then its all RNG

you will get destroyed by rogues who have half a brain and have a shadow reflector. your only hope is the living action potion

you will stomp mages if you have half a brain

if you play alliance you will almost never use fear. it will be a waste of a gcd. But there wont be a lot of decent alliance warlocks because the good warlocks play undead, so you are in demand in all activities.

when you raid you are a buff bot for the mages. you will get huge crits and have to watch your threat unlike the other classes

expect to farm tons of shards for summoning lazy fucks in your guild

expect a free mount at level 40 and a badass one at 60
