Well. If you want a tank there are many who can do that job better. There's also a handful of mages who can support better. He's trying to do both and while he's a great champ he's better top where he can farm and grow at his leisure rather than in support.
If you like planty mage supports zyra is really strong, and you can try her on rotation. And if you want something tankier with good engage leona has some strong engage potential
