250 damage is her level 5 Q. That's hardly above the curve for a marquee ability, nor is it particularly impressive. We haven't even once brought up mana costs yet so I'm just going to pretend you didn't mention it. Plenty of other tanks can put out good damage with their kit and no offensive items as well. This is of course ignoring champions like Malphite who gain damage by building defensive items.

None of that really matters though. You feel like tanks should not be allowed to deal damage or 1v1 squishy targets, and I'm telling you that simply isn't how the game is played. Your frustration shouldn't be directed at Poppy, but rather how Riot deals with the tank class.

I'm so sick of people spreading this idiot meme, do you think she's Yasuo or something? Her shield doesn't work like that. You have a constant overall damage type that's calculated based off your AP, AD, ratios, and the Camille's armor and MR. Just casting a single spell at her won't change your damage type. The only way to really get past her shield is by being something like Jax who does near equal amounts of physical and magic damage, or by being something like Vel'koz with lots of true damage. There's no way to bait it out either since it only activates on her first auto, unless you can stun or disengage her, as the shield doesn't last very long.

the thing is that poppy is exceptionally good at it. too good, even. champions like maokai, nautilus, malphite, etc that become lategame nightmares are all balanced by having very weak lane phases. poppy doesn't really have any period of time in a game where she's outclassed by her lane opponent. she has good trading potential at a minimal mana cost from minute 1. that's not right for someone who is also a lategame hypertank.

As someone who plays some Darius and a lot of Kled, I'd say it favors Darius, but a skilled Kled and still win. Bear-trap plus Jousting makes it easy to stay too close for him to hit you with the edge of his Q, and as long as you dodge that he can't out-AA you because of your W and the Fervor you should be taking. You can usually get a kill on him early, then kill him again when you hit 6. After he hits 6 you can still fight him but it becomes harder, and eventually Darius will reach his point where even very ahead you can't outfight him, but by then you should be roaming and winning the match in other lanes.
