I don't mind the gameplay by itself, even though its attempts at stealth gameplay are awful just like they are in the rest of the game. Also it's not really 'lost' since it's so fucking linear it's not even funny.

Chapter 13 just drags itself on for too long while Noctis refuses to even jog at a moderate pace properly. I just Holy'd like thirteen axemen, why does he have to tread like he's sneaking into the Louvre.

It's not that they expanded on it in the remaster specifically, but there was an audio drama related to it that they translated and even dubbed it for the remaster. The audio drama is six months after 2.5.

Duplicorns and Leukomas or whatever the fuck the latter were called.
Old Lestallum has two Duplicorns in a Rank 2 hunt a short distance away from the town itself. Go to the camp ground nearby and eat a Mother and Child Rice Combo for 50% drop rate boost if you feel it necessary, because even if you break the horns on the Duplicorns, it's a 10% drop rate by default.

So Insomnia is based on Tokyo/London I guess, there's a royal aspect and an eastern one? Nifflheim looks like Hong Kong with all the high buildings but the gritty buildings feel a bit New York. Altissia is Venice/European obviously and Tenebrae is just full on elven fantasy which is a shame we never go there...

I liked the concept of the kingdoms. Shame we didn't see much of that come into play. Like how Lucis' doesn't have much military tech because they rely on magic but niflheim have used advanced tech to compensate for their lack thereof. Tenebrae seemed devoid of tech or modern things which is interesting.

Hopefully the DLC will give us some great character backstorys and world building. Especially for Prompto and his weird revelation and roots. Be nice to see more of him and and Niflheim.

So far I've only played I, IV, V, VI, VII, IX, and XIII but this is unironically my favorite Final Fantasy game so far and by a decent margin, too.

I guess it helps that I actually really liked the combat even from the very first time I played Episode Duscae. I grew up playing shit like FF and Legend of Dragoon on the PSX but I really don't care for turn based/ATB in the grand scheme of things. None of them are particularly difficult, who plays FF games for the challenging combat? It's just that the real time stuff in this game was so slick and cool looking, made for some really nice moments that visually speaking demolish anything else the series has tried. Holding down circle, QTEs to dodge/parry attacks, a simple party member ability button vs. navigating through a menu to spam each character's strongest ability and occasionally heal over and over again until the encounter is done, gameplay wise neither is particularly appealing or engaging but one for sure looks infinitely nicer. For what it's worth, I really like CRPGs, most RTS games, Souls/DMC/Ninja Gaiden, Bravely Default etc. for stuff with good combat.

Pacing is really weird especially in the last 4 or 5 chapters which is where the bulk of the story actually happens but overall I don't think there's anything wrong with the writers' intentions and the 'contours' so to speak of the narrative as a whole. It could've been more fleshed out but that's more of an issue with what we didn't get than what we actually got.

It's also the only one that actually made me tear up, I found most of the sad/sentimental writing in the other games to just be way too cheesy/cringy and forced in a sense. Felt a lot more natural and heartfelt this time around, for instance during scenes like Cid's speech right before you leave for Altissia and the short camping cutscene in the middle of the credits. I'm sure the mocap and voice acting has something to do with it but the writing itself was overall more genuine and less fantasy.

I really don't know to be honest. I just finished the game, and I was curious why people think this way. Yeah sure, Iris is a childhood friend and all but I honestly found her annoying as fuck and wished she would shut up. She's way too happy and preppy to the point where I wanted to mute her. What happens if you didn't save any pictures over the course of the game? What do you have to choose from at the end?

Also, there's literally 3 boss fights in this game: Aranea, Ravus, and Ifrit. Pretty weak. Final Fantasy should at least have a 3 part last boss: first form, second harder form, and third cinematic form. This one really only had a first easy form and a second cinematic form.

Bosses in general were really weak in this game, mainly due to the combat system limitations, but also due to the fact that there was no build up to bosses. Ardyn is really the only villain that had a good amount of screentime.
