I wish Skyrim expanded more on the Thu'um. It was a legitimately interesting part of the lore and even gameplay, the boss fight with Miraak was actually quite good. Reminded me of the explanation of how Dragon battles are debates.

There just wasn't enough Shouts in the game. The amount of crazy stuff we could've been able to do with Shouts would have been great.

this is debatable. we have pretty good enb options for oldrim, that's not the case with sse. the enb that comes with sse is lacking from what I understand in features that it will likely never receive because boris won't work on a full enb for it, so unless someone else takes up the reigns where he left off, this will likely never really be true, despite the built-in advantages sse has over oldrim.

the base game likely is, yes, but the modders will destroy this 'stability' by producing more and more shitty mods. the downloads are already flooded with broken mods that break the game, and it will get worse as time passes. oldrim has a stable foundation for it at this point and time with a 'known' list of what is safe and not safe to use. with time sse will get this as well, but currently there are a lot of messed up mods for it.

many of the utilities that we've come to love with oldrim are simply just broken for sse and may never work right. dyndolod is completely messed up, maybe it's for the best, but I'm not holding my breath on it yet. skyproc patcher's no longer work, which literally sucks. meshes, textures, and I'm sure there's a lot more. Like I said before, it's too early to judge to be honest, only time will tell. Some of these 'drawbacks' may turn out to be god-sends, producing much better and stable versions of their predecessor's, but currently, it's just a broken playground (but active at least) so there's still plenty of hope for it still.

Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the guys pushing for SSE, have been playing it nonstop and love it, but it's not the same, it's lacking. Mostly I love that it's now 64 bit, and if the modder's do produce enough mods for it to catch up to oldrim, it will surpass it I think, even given it's failures.

Just wondering. I remember a year ago wanting to make a quest mod set on an island that spawned off the Coast of High Rock. The island being willed into form by a kid who achieved CHIM, the kid would basically make the Dragonborn fuck around with them over a few questlines, then at the end the kid would come to find he/she missed their parents and would simply vanish to another time, leaving the Dragonborn without recollection of what happened.

Thing is the whole CHIM concept is a bit convoluted and I wouldn't have pulled it off.

Why do the TESrenewal projects only focus on remaking Morrowind and Oblivion in Skyrim? Why not Arena or Daggerfall?

Even though it's definitely aged a little, the gameplay itself feels really satisfying. In Skyrim, you swing a sword and you go into this slow animation where the first person camera swivels as you pull your weapon back slowly and swing slowly and then ready yourself slowly. In Oblivion, you just swing and it's a quick, deliberate motion. No camera movement, no slow windup, just a simple slash. Feels great to hit an enemy with a swift barrage of slashes after dodging all of their attacks and seeing their ragdoll blow backward with the final hit.

I only got that feeling in Skyrim after I had installed at least 7 different mods and messed around with them to get them all working correctly.
