Good to see that the fresh servers are the exact same launch day experience all over again. The new races are Castanic and Elin redux. All the same absolutely terrible crafting elements are still in the game. The cash shop advantages to be added in the not too distant future.

Generally if you're a Battlerage/whatever + Vitalism for healing, you're using a shortspear for the native healing power it has. You're not doing some split str/spirit build.

Generally, people play Paladin or Argent for a tanky/dps+healing class. Using a greatclub gives you a big damage penalty, so it's certainly suboptimal. Yes, the spirit is nice; but the benefit of the spirit compared to the flat Healing Power on any given weapon you'd use (Shortspear) is not equivalent to the loss of damage dealing potential you'd suffer.

Songcraft is 100% necessary in all raid settings. You generally want every person with songcraft (depending on group size) to focus on supplying 1-2 of the songs over all else; while you can have a songcraft user play nearly all songs, it's generally less desirable in case they die/get CC'd/etc. Your healers focus on rotating songs, in higher skill Mageball/large group, you'd want songcraft rotating Alarm Call as well.

For a Battlerage/Auramancy/Songcraft build (which might be less desirable than Blade Dancer, Songcraft/BR/Shadowplay), it's kinda viable now due to Zeal now affecting melee/ranged/magic as opposed to just healing.
A bit up in the air for non-healer/support songcraft users, but it's not a terrible idea.

Arena is dead-ish; but dreambreaker/abolisher would be the king of skirmish (mainly abolisher). Daggerspell is "great" 1v1, but it's not as dominant as it once was. Most mages will pick enigmatist instead, especially for raid combat. Less geared/attack orientated mages will likely go Skull Knight, as it has great survivability and CC. Anthalon Pull/Crows/Summon Wraith/etc are extremely powerful/useful in the Mageball meta.
Dreambreaker would be very viable in small-scale combat, and for not dying. People can't do shit when you just chain CC on their asses.

My experience is based on really early level 50 release where mages got shafted by the lack of gear and archer just being fucking horribly strong at kiting everything and melee 3shotting your clothie ass. Skull knight was fun when I tried that together with Reaper.

Generally, it depends on your role. Skull Knights do a lot of help to their raid, despite not having Archery/BR/Sorcery.
Tomb Warden, the class you're referring to, has been something people who I know theorized as being really good, on paper. I've not really seen anyone use it, but from a skillset standpoint, it might be good; the problem generally comes from something being good/viable, but not OPTIMAL. That being said, if you're in a smaller guild/with friends, it doesn't really matter if you don't adhere to the meta.

Archers were "Strong" mainly because everybody had trash gear, and Battlerage didn't have the extra gap closer(s) they have. Archery took some nerfs in that they lost their interrupt on piercing shot, and endless arrows got changed slightly; as well as their 55 skill not being nearly as good as other 55 skills.
Mageball is the new hot meta, wherein mages have Skull Knights/other classes group people up and do massive CC chains to fuck people to death, while Enigmatists and the other class whose name evades me atm drop AoE spells on the ball and kills everyone. you "craft" armor now in that you make obsidian gear; no RNG involved in the actual crafing of it. Just make a set of celestial Tier 3-4 obsidian once you can, if you make money, try to buy divine obsidian pieces, and make them Tier 5. Crafted gear still exists, but the bonuses on Obsidian are very good. The only problem is Obsidian gear is Bind on Equip (though it'll unbind every time you tier it up), as opposed to regular-line crafted gear being unbound. Scepters are good, generally Scepter+Shield is what the majority of mages use; some use Obsidian Katanas for faster cast times, but that's less desirable post the Magic Attack nerf on Katanas. Daggers/Shield (usually shield) are offhands.

Correct. Obsidian will ALWAYS go the way you want it to (unless I suppose you click on the wrong option and make something else, but whatever). At Tier 1 - 3, it's a single route; Tier 4 gives 2 options that get better stats/bonus by going from Tiers 4 - 6. At Tier 7 (Which should only ever be for legendary/mythic gear), you get to pick 1 of X amount of options for the final piece/weapon, generally a greatly enhanced (usually doubled) version of the t6 path 1's bonus+stats, or t6 path 2's bonus+ path 1's stats, or vice versa; you get a choice.

So Obsidian will always turn out as you want it to, no RNG besides Tempering/gemming/regrading.

Rule of Thumb: Don't bring Celestial past T4, Don't Bring Divine past T5, Don't bring Epic past T6.

Every time you tier something up/craft anything, it has a chance to go up a grade. You can regrade it with/without charms; nothing breaks going up to Celestial; from that point on, without charms, it has a 10% chance of going Divine, 45% chance of going back to Arcane, and a 45% chance of breaking.

Generally speaking, if you'd like to gear up and not waste money, buying divine pieces instead of regrading is the way to go. Regrading is gambling.
