I did very conservative estimates. Hence why I didn't account for AP. And why I let the mage have 20% DR (lol). In the real world, mages don't have 20% DR, and you don't have 0 AP. But even with 0 AP and mages with 20% DR, you would still deal 95% of the pre-scaling damage.

Mages do not have 20% DR, they have about 15%. That right there would put post-scaling eviscerate as doing the same damage as pre-scaling. Throw in AP bonuses, and a gearless rogue will deal more damage with eviscerate than they would have pre-scaling.

Got a source for that? I checked the patchnotes. I checked articles relating to the patch that were posted in mid '06. I can't find any information that even suggests that the base damage was lowered. All I can see is that the base damage is unchanged.

I worked out how much damage you would deal post-scaling with a 5-combo eviscerate crit at max rank with 3 points in improved eviscerate using a character with zero attack power.

I then looked at the crits in roguecraft and reversed any damage reduction from armor.

I then found that the damage is the exact fucking same. But also, since post-scaling, the ability actually fucking scales, you would deal even more damage post-scaling than you would pre-scaling.

I am making no assumptions, here.

Not at all. It's true that eviscerate was nerfed for GEARLESS players.

Without gear, the old eviscerate deals about 30 damage more than the scaling eviscerate.

When you watch roguecraft, at no point does even 100 damage make any difference.

So no. The fights could be redone in patch 1.12 and the outcome would be no different.

Consequently, however, it does mean that even if you have shitty level 40 BoE green gear, you will deal more damage with a scaling eviscerate than a non-scaling eviscerate.

I am getting all of my proof from an understanding of game mechanics.

Rank 9 evis post-1.12 can deal a top-end of 1012 damage. Multiplied by 2 for a crit and you get 2024. Add 15% from improved eviscerate and you get 2328 damage.

That means a player with 3 points in imp evis who is also debuffed to the point where he has 0 attack power, who then uses rank 9 eviscerate and crits against a target with 0 armor will deal a maximum of 2328 damage.

That is a ridiculous amount of damage for a rogue with 0 attack power. If you then account for not having 0 attack power (because even ungeared rogues have AP), and then account for a target with 15% DR from cloth armor, you will deal about the same damage as the crits seen in the roguecraft no gear footage.

That is my proof. No funserver needed.

Which is understandable, but tmog on retail only lets you use appearances of gear that you could actually wear. This includes both level and class requirements.

This means a few things.

1) High end gear will still only be seen on max level characters. You will not see a lv5 scrub running around in tier 2 sets.

2) High end gear that's class specific will only be seen on characters belonging to a player who has proven himself on that class. EG: A warrior in the full PvP set might roll an alt for some reason or another, he can don the appearance of the full PvP set when and only when his warrior alt is max level and probably the required honor rank. At which point he may as well get the set itself anyway.

For PvE gear, the warrior can prove his experience in raids with transmog should he roll on a different faction or an alt, it might bet he ideal way to demonstrate 'achievements' and proof of your skill as vanilla lacks achievements or 'global' accounts or communication the same way retail does.

I defo agree that tmog should be restrictive, but I don't see the harm personally with the above in mind. You won't see Paladins dressed as Warriors (This is before every raid had recolours of tier sets), you won't see level 5s in level 60 gear. The rarity of the gear would generally be preserved (Anyone who got the gear once can probably get it again a second time anyway, esp if it's the same class).

I for one just want to look like a mundane mother fucking adventurer amongst a sea of particle effects and anime-inspired armour that you tend to find in endgame content (See Alliance Plate PvP set w/ Cloud's Buster Sword).

You're not even refuting my points. I would not be surprised if they added tmog and the barbershop to an official vanilla server. And I doubt there'd be any harm in it, nobody's badges of progression will be tarnished, rare gear will remain as rare as it was up until now. You're not about to see everyone on the fucking server don the T2 pally set if they introduced tmog in a vanilla server.

They'd have to have a paladin at level 60, and at least one such paladin will have had to raid extensively to get that set to be able to use that on their other paladins.

Now when you consider that leveling in vanilla was a time consuming bitch, do you really think that many people will make two of the same class? Maybe across both factions but certainly not on the same one with very few exceptions.

The issue with WoD's leveling for me was that it was fun ONCE. Just once. After that it was very apparent that it was linear as fuck and had zero things interesting about it beyond 'oooh cutscenes!'.

Legion at least made 100-110 mercifully short, so it wasn't too bad.

But throughout the entirety of 1-110, you are under zero threat. If you ar epaying attention, you cannot die. You never need to prepare for anything and never even have to interact with a single player. As a Warlock, you mostly use your imp pet as a passive buff instead of doing damage with it. Depends on the build, you may sacrifice it for more damage or other utility buffs, but this leads to a problem. Warlocks generate threat fast from their spells and a crit can increase it higher than you are prepared for. That's why Mage is a simpler choice for just doing as much damage as you can, and groups will expect you to be the damage guy while they expect you to do other things as a Warlock. Warlock and Mage are both good though.

I'd go Undead if you like how they look and like their racial. Trolls seem kind of mediocre in every role. PVE you could survive with either race and honestly I expect alliance PVP to build so they avoid WotF so it doesn't matter much their either.

Yes. But we like the setting (If there's another MMO with Tauren then I'd be down for that, primary RP race for me) and it's extremely populated compared to the dead RP scenes on other MMOs. The wealth of RP addons and massive world size helps too.

If pop wasn't an issue, and it wasn't fucked by megaservers I'd be RPing on TESO. Failing that, LOTRO was MADE for RPing in, but even the RP hotspots in Bree are dead at peak hours now. Don't even see those mary sue elves that act like humans.

the problem is until end game zones you have a hard time pulling enough mobs to threaten yourself.

Honestly the problem as i see it is there are too many levels. Blizzard should honest to god just reduce everything back to level 60. have azeroth be 1-40, outland 40-50, northrend 45-55, and so on. each zone in each xpansion would give 2.5 levels, classes would not have to wait until level fucking 50 for their core skills anymore like now. The leveling could be at the speed of vanilla wow in xpgain per mob/quest but there would be soo much that it wouldnt really be a chore. People would be closer in power to each other than now so the game would be more balanced. Mobs could have some slightly more interesting mechanics to make it so you have to pay attention to the game when attempting to kill named mobs.

unfortunately this would take work and im pretty sure blizzard/activision is hyper sensitive to the effort/payoff so they are not willing to risk using a lot of resources.

You don't need dungeon knowledge to do anything but tank or navigate. The risk of dying comes from pulling too many or adds, both of which are kind of generic problems.
