Cruisers are very reliant on having appropiate commanders to stay hidden, spot the enemy and stay on the move. If you have those though, you can kill any BB if he doesn't get vision from a friendly DD on you.

It'll take you a bit over a week if you grind hard to get it, then it'll depend on how often do you play it. Stock syndrome isnt as strong here so most ships are still useful without upgrades.
Also the chinks throw lots of premium time or matches so that'd soften up the grind for ships, what >>162344428 was talking about is the commanders, they're the real grind in here but once you get the ones you need for your main class you'll be set for a while.

You have 5 commander slots, captain, gunner, steersman, comms officer and engineer. You can put any commanders in any slot but only the captain can use the active skill (the first one listed) and some passives need the guy to be in a specific slot to work.
Each commander has different skills than the rest, with only a few skills in common with others so you can build for damage, accuracy, spotting, etc.
You can only have one of each commander on a ship, but the same guy can be on all your ships with no cost and you're free to change your setup at port.
Also most people stick so certain builds so you'll see similarities but if you come up with a different one that works for you go for it.

There's over 70 commanders in the game right now, most of them are based on actual historical figures with their real names.

You get some of them by completing events (check the events tab) and the rest are obtained by either buying a specific commander with merit/qualification points or by buying a random commander draw.
Some of the basic commanders can be bought with merit but the rest need quali points. The random draw can give you any commander and its way cheaper merit wise.

Once you get one he stays in your inventory, so in time you'll get all those you need.

Once you buy a commander its yours forever and they're leveled up in a global level so you can grind a guy in one ship and he'll be the same level in all the other ships that you use him.
At first you wont have the most meta-master setup but you'll get them eventually and level them up to the max.

Its fairly large and the center of the area is always where your last shot landed so you wont lose a lot of the bonus if the target is moving.
There's braindead players everywhere but you can ease your pain by grouping up, the local fleet is fairly useful for that, I spent most of the week playing with guys that joined recently to help them out.
I swear I wasnt seal clubbing.
My winrate is absolutely legit, no statpadding involved.

Nobody really knows because the game picks up the usernames of players that have been inactive for a lot of time as names for the bots. They generally move around slowly and fire a couple of torps or poorly aimed salvos.
Also, once you get to around T4 start buying 7 days paint and flags to get more disguise (or camuflage in wot terms) and a slighly faster captain skill charge.

29750 silver to get paint and the two flags in an atlanta for a week, and silver is easy as fuck to farm here. The constant premium thrown at you and Overlord mode will help you out a lot early on.

Don't worry about silver. Thumb rule here is that going from stock to fully upgraded ship gives enough silver to buy everything you need for the ship (upgrades, camo, flags) PLUS enough silver for the next tier ship. You might not be getting tons of shekels now, but shekels gains increase as you go up.
Also, camo and flags 7-days cost depends on your tier, the only thing that might be too expensive for you right now is modules, but I would recommend you to get the ones that can be switched between ships like the one that gives extra scouting range.

Seriously this game gives lots of silver, the only time I went bankrupt was when I got my T10 after expending an stupid amount of free XP to get her instead of suffering the required amount of matches actually needed and buying some T8/9 ships while I was at it. With certain ships I get 1M+ silver per game.

Don't worry I once torped the Yodo Poster from a submarine at 5km while he was in a lafogoy, things like that happen all the time. Just be careful not to TK/friendly fire while blue, people might start reporting you.

All torpedos in the game have safe zones, even sub and CV torps. Fun fact: There's at least one ship of every class with torps in some form. Even BB/BC.

Subs can only be spotted with sonar when they are underwater, so it's all about being an sneaky fuck to get into the capital ships and fire at point blank. This is hard. The other thing subs do is be DD bait: submerge, spot the DD for your team and try to bait him into engaging in ASW, this usually helps your cruisers and battleships to get easier shots on them, but it's risky as fuck. Submarines are suffering for you and your team since both of those functions are hard to pull and usually end in pain and tears.

I don't understand your question. A T7 BB does the same thing as a T4 BB.
The only case were ships of a line do different roles as you advance in the tree is cruisers, since most cruisers lines have Light and Heavy cruisers, which must be played differently to be efficient at it, but that just a single case.

As by stats alone, yes, a T(x) ship will always have lower stats than their (x+1) counterpart, at most you can get weird cases like T7-8 carriers where the T8s only have an extra plons slots as the only advantage, but as the cruisers case, this is an isolated scenario.

Niche roles are filled by gold/prem ships, like the Ise BBV or the Ooyodo for example.

You could sell the repulse for the slot and 1 million silver, however it can be used in Overlord mode (event) and print a lot of silver. So you might consider holding onto that one.

Ning-Hai is an entertaining ship but you could sell her, though she is another 3x daily to quick train.

Jintsu though, I've had a bit of fun in and she's a good bote. Would not sell.

That said I haven't sold any of them. And due regularly use them.

For the furutaka and cruisers question, you can't do much about it besides trying to hit the smokestack for easy pens. Cruisers need to abuse their superior scout and agility to invisifire BBs (firing from a range the BB can't spot you even while firing) and dodge salvos in case of the BB actually spotting you. It takes time, but works, and use torps only as area denial.

For the leak thing, it goes by tiers, I think at lvl 4 or 5 you start getting damage per tick, and it also lowers your armor in that point.

Cruisers in general are support/escort classes, they are meant for keeping away DD, subs, planes and other stuff out of your capital ships. Keeping that in mind, light cruisers are like bigger destroyers: they are agile, they have massive radars and they are pretty good at deleting destroyers. Heavy cruisers are like smaller BBs: more accurate, better rate of fire, speed, agility, etc; while also being more fragile.

Both classes are pretty versatile too, so often the MM will think you are a BB while playing CA or a DD while playing CL.

Force them to point away from you with your own torps, weave between their torps, get in so close that by the time they can get torps pointed at you they will be too close to arm.

I try to do all three during a single approach if I actually need to depth charge the sub. There are two submersion levels. The "shallow dive" is the one where Subs can fire back at you with Torps, and also be hit by them.

The "deep dive" protects from Torpedoes, and if the Sub goes literally completely still and has decent disguise, will literally vanish. The drawbacks to this are in even larger penalty to scouting, radio, complete inability to fire their own torps, and increased oxygen consumption. Depth Charges will still hit a deep dived Sub.
