granted the rb/sb options are more accessible than many simulator competitors, you don't need a full on flight setup and someone in the bitch seat to hope to play.
arcadey if you must but they have to tread some line between realism and accessibility, it compromises them in the eyes of purists but it's the best thing about the game. you can play something with vaguely realistic damage and ballistic modeling without studying for a month to get off the ground.

world of tanks/ships/planes/whatever satisfy an avatar based mmo niche, completely gamey
ro2/warthunder (best in hardcore and rb/sb, respectively) satisfy a middle ground between video game and sim
arma/il2/dcs satisfy a much more simulation/purist niche
