Couldn't find a recent general, so copied and rewrote what I could from an older one.

With regards to the recommendations, what are your favourite versions of each DQ game? Or is the current one alright?

Dragon Quest VIII is coming out in a month on 3DS and yet you'll probably get banned on /vr/ if you try to discuss it there. That's why we HAVE to move.

That may have been a separate incident, because my posts that got deleted were actual discussion about the remake.

Point is, you're going to have one fag who always posts >>>/vg/ at the start of every thread and people are hesitant to discuss newer Dragon Quest games there. It makes sense to move.

Let me fix this shit:

I - SNES with fan translation
II - SNES with fan translation
III - SNES with fan translation. Fuck the GBC version, the extra stuff they add is terrible.
IV - DS. Sorry, but if you don't know Japanese, this is your best option. Otherwise, Japanese DS.
V - PS2 with fan translation. Choose DS if you really want Deborah.
VI - DS
VII - 3DS version. Purists will say PS1, but fuck them.
VIII - Wait until 3DS version.
IX - DS (Needs to be hacked to get locked content because the online servers are down forever)
X - You will never ever be able to play this if you don't know Japanese. Give up.

Of course, if you know Japanese or are learning it, you should absolutely just play the original Japanese versions instead so you don't have to deal with shitty localizations.
