I bought the novelization of Kimomen demo Harem Guild cause I had spent like a hundred hours or something translating the game and thus really wanted to own a little merch for it plus know what changed in the novel (I didn't search for scans that hard, they may exist but finding them was tedious, so it works out). Hopefully since this is the novelization of an H-game it's on topic enough for this thread. Anyway, I'll write a little review of it here.

Overall it's a really tiny book, 253 pages with a good amount of space dedicated to printed CGs and even just standard sprites on a background (used sparingly and largely just to introduce them / show off new costumes as they get them). Since all the art assets are reused, the story follows the same path, but a lot of it is unique and the ending is completely changed (the novel being framed as a revenge story for Yuusha (hero) of the original Knights of the Round guild though of course he fails in the end). The books is kinda hard to hold and the cover is really flimsy, really shows that it's only worth 750~ yen or however so much it was. It comes with a poster of the box coverat but I dunno if I'll hang that up on my wall.

Pros:
- There's a lot of new dialogue and whatnot which made it fun to read even having already read the VN
- I like the new ending more
- One of the sprites on background image actually shows more leg than the game ever did, in fact more leg than is even in the game files.
- Novelty

Cons:
- Sonia, my least favourite character, is not only on the cover, but is also the only one who's final scene is kept in the book. This makes sense since she was stolen from Yuusha and is thus kind of the main heroine but her final scene is pretty bad so that's kinda disappointing.
- Black and white art
- 6 H-scenes are cut
- So small it's kinda hard to hold

Anyway I don't regret spending the pittance on it but yeah as one would expect this novel isn't better than the VN by any means. Was a fun read though.

You can have one Treasure Hunt Group and as long as you have like 5 other groups with at least one force bar, you can just move them to the other groups with force and end up using Treasure Hunt with the same group five times in one turn even if they only originally had 1 force bar. Same with any skill besides Treasure Hunt. Feels like this wasn't the way it's supposed to be intended...

I don't really see that as an big issue, mainly due to how tedious it is to do. Besides you can only change group compositions if the group hasn't acted yet and with how the system is you want to have almost all your groups act each turn here. So I myself only see using the jewing squads on boss fight supports while having actual proper combat support for the less powerfull squads to help them take over stuff when needed.
Overally we'll have to see how it works in full game in the long run.
