Is there anyway to play Ronin that isn't predicated on nuke-ejecting like a cunt? I'm G3 with 60 hours played and here are my thoughts on the titans:

Ion: Boring workhorse who can do a lot
Scorch: The jimmy-rustling, fire-rapist himself. The fun never stops. Destroys everyone else.
Northstar: Fun but not as good or as fun as Scorch.
Ronin: Awful meme titan who I've never seen get a kill outside of nuke ejects (which I now expect 100% of the time). Raped by everyone but Northstar instantly.
Tone: Seems OP, but I've only gotten him to level 3 since I don't want to be a queer.
Legion: Seems imposing, but is actually boring and kinda sucks. Gets his battery-port-pucci pounded by anyone who isn't a retard.

Ronan isn't on the high end of the power curve but generally:

>Shoot them in the face
>Phase Dash through them while reloading
>Shoot them in the face again
>Evaluate situation

Is the standard "rotation".I use double smokes and drop a smoke as I Phase Dash, but that's preference. Aside from that, Ronin is one of the best Titans at farming NPCs (if Attrition's your thing), and killing Pilots is a breeze, considering you have a giant one-shot shotgun with a killing spread that's bigger than their entire model.

Ronin is my go-to "first to fall" titan. He works best when there aren't six giant robotic shit-heads on their team, because he loves 1v1s and hates clusterfucks (unless, of course, you're packing nuke eject--which you shouldn't be).

As Ronin, I find myself able to handle Tones, Northstars, and Scorches pretty easily. Ions and Legions force a hit-and-run or get blown out style. He's pretty good, I run nuke ejection because I don't feel a 3rd dash is needed, and reduced cooldown on phase for more survivability.

Throw arc waves and then lose sight before you dash to cover again. If they open fire on you, block never has a cooldown

Avoid any long giant empty areas, homestead is worst map, your goal is to get close, unload your shotgun point blank critical or not, and then start unleashing your inner weeaboo.

The only titan you really can't fight up close is a full hp scorch who will just FINGER you to death but you can kite him to death.
Legions are also tanky enough to unload most of their gun into making you cry so just poke him too.

Tones are pretty easy prey as long as you manage to avoid getting too many tags, close up asap and they're fucked, can't handle pressure very well.
NS is pretty simple, tether is your worst enemy but you have phase
Ion is a pretty matched fight, too far and she can poke you with lasers, up close theres splitter rifle and tripwires, all you can do is just poke and wait for them to waste energy

Just remember you're on par with northstar for being a fragile little snowflake and stop rushing through open areas, ronin dominates close-mid combat when they can either retreat when needed or close in for a kill.

Maybe I was just lucky, and I wish the tether and core weren't useless, but being skittish and poking cockpits really isn't that hard. I especially like being able to erase a full doomed healthbar with one shot.

Northstar is good, when you have the opportunity to do what she does best e.g. blast titans with full-charge shots and cluster missiles before dashing back behind cover

So how frequent are titan executions for you guys? Also is there a special trick that triggers them more often? I feel like half the time my titan just punches them in normal melee, even if doomed

I wasn't having much trouble with shooting or smacking pilots, still felt better than being slow-ass legion with a wind-up gun. Also, she seems fast enough to get away from titan flanks if you see them coming, and the tether helps a tiny bit with that. I'm currently running the extra boost; gonna try out the viper thrusters next, but I don't see much use in hovering often, really.

Maybe it's because I've never encountered a Holo pilot as an enemy before, but I cannot believe that anyone would mistake a holo for the real deal.
Maybe it's an FOV thing but I'll regularly be maybe 3 feet to the left of my holo, I'll freak out when an enemy pilot sees me and then laugh for a couple seconds as he shoots and melees the holo, again, with me right next to it.

The main thing for me is figuring out which ordnance to bring with it, I'm trying to get normal frags down

I've fallen for it exactly once, and the pilot who used it died to a friendly before I saw either him or the projection. I shot it once and realized it was fake. Looked around for the pilot and found a body.

So I'd say it's probably only actually effective against turbo shutters. I might be a normal shitter tho.

I don't think all these shitter's are getting why using Holo is fun as fug. Crossing no man's lands and spot checking bait spots are super simple.
Useful too whenever you know how to go grapple speeds without the grapple. Stim is meh. Phase almost hurts you as much as it does the enemy (neato for if you get up close and personal with titans a fuckton though).

It's a better R201 in most ways, and the SMGs being better than most of the ARs in this game kinda upsets me. There's a certain level of satisfaction in using the Flatline, one of the "worse" guns in the game. The SMGs just feel like free kill machines and aren't rewarding at all personally, granted the CAR applies a bit less.

The CAR also feels like a generic FPS shootman gun. That's basically it, a utilitarian, quality gun that kills shit. But it's extremely fucking boring in a game with Spinfusers, Rocklet machine guns, twin barreled SMGs, and other unique or goofy shit. I guess it's hard to explain why I really like the Flatline. I know it's objectively worse than the Volt and Alternator in most applications, but I prefer it anyways.

Why do so many automatic weapons in this game have so little recoil while ADSing ? I get it some people want to ADS when wall running, but by keeping it so low people that just sit still on a rooftop gain advantage against people going fast.

For me, the main thing is being able to read a situation well enough to be able to figure out who fell for the holo ruse, then being good enough to kill them in time.
Smart Pistol seems like a great combo.

The main situation I get the most use out of it is in the main building in Angel City, the one with multiple floors and a center-hollow.
I drop the holo pilot in a window overlooking the street or the courtyard an wait for a shitter to see me, assume I'm a shitter who doesnt see them and let them come in to kill.
I may be making it more hard than I need to for myself by using the G2 and frags though.

Frags' detonation time starts counting the moment you push down the button, yes?

Northstar is fantastic on maps with huge sightlines like Forwardbase Kodai. On enclosed maps you just get pilot gangbanged and crushed by Ronins.

It might also help, depending on what you're going for, to bring Threat Optics with you.
You'd be surprised how useful it is in those huge-sightline maps to be able to see someone expose themselves by color code since identifying by movement is kind of harder for human beans.

Threat Optics also meshes well with extra electric smoke for giving you some cover while you take potshots at targets.

Compete with enemy team to kill neutral AI units which net you money. At the end of the round, you get a bonus which you "cash in" at one of two banks on the map (it's the same for both teams which makes the banks a hot zone). Killing enemy pilots makes you steal half of their bonus.
>Last Titan Standing
All players start in their titans, and kill each other until their titans blow up. Note that it's last TITAN standing, i.e. if a pilot ejects from their titan they can still run around and help the team but technically count as "dead" since their titan isn't there anymore.
