Honestly I'm in the same boat but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. The one exception I made was Kazakus, because I love reno decks and he's a must-have for that archetype. Raza is also really good, followed by Inkmaster and then Kruul. Outside of that gang leaders are always nice to have.

Like I said, a proper paladin deck is expensive. If all you have is mostly basic cards, you can try mage (since you get fireland portal for free) or zoolock. Focus on getting classic packs opened for now.
