Yeah. Well, the PVP is all in a separate environment, either battlegrounds or arena. Server doesn't really come into play there. If you're after the 1v1 or 3v3 that's progression that's entirely disconnected from the PvE progression that the thread talks about. You'd find equal amounts of help from either server group for that.
Battlegrounds is PvP with PvE gear, but the best stuff for it is gotten either from single player content or from battlegrounds rewards themselves, so that's also kind of completely separate from the PvE progression we're talking about here.

It's basically gear yourself up until you're able to run a dungeon multiple times so you can get the money and materials to gear yourself up more for the next "tier" of dungeons. Currently it culminates in 24 man runs in Midnight Skypetal Plains, which is going to be an unpleasant experience for you if your rig, for whatever reason, can't handle a ton of players in a single instance, but something that you're still going to need to do if you want legendary soulshield pieces.
The problem for new players is that running older dungeons that you still need to do to progress is difficult due to either a lack of population still queuing for them in cross server, or pugs still running them but requiring more AP than you have to consider running with you - this is why we recommend you stick with bnsg. Thing is, most dungeon runs are also cross-server, so what server you're on doesn't really affect these dungeon runs.
The only thing the server groups really affect are 24-mans.

Have.. have you played it at all? There's clearly endgame that allowed the player to do both pvp and pve.

Usually at least involves running daily challenges (a selection of 4 endgame dungeons that give some bonus rewards on a given day)
There are quite a few other heroic/purple endgame dungeons you can run for daily quest reward gold even if they aren't part of that day's daily challenge selection.
A few dungeons now drop legendary accessories but are harder than the other heroic dungeons and are usually treated separately. Two are already in game and a third comes this Wednesday.
There is also 24-man content that is not cross-server. There is only one raid in game now and it drops legendary soul shields.
Running all of these can take several hours. You can run dungeons in 4-man or 6-man parties. 4-man parties can give better loot while 6-man parties give soul shield pieces. Your dps is also shown in 4-man parties.
Combat is pretty fun once you have all your skills. I still enjoy running the dungeons with friends even after clearing some of them a couple hundred times.

I still use the old FM Double Free Orbits build, with the exception of using HM T5S1 Inferno.
T3S1 LMBpalm, T3S2 RMBpalm, HM Blazing Beam, T3 Dual Dragons. T3 FireFury(Back up).
It makes it so you never have to cast any fury what so ever to get Dual dragons up. You Sacrafice your burn damage on LMBpalm to run free Blazes and Dragons.
Where you Cast Dragonblaze inbetween Dual dragons, and skip using Fire fury.
It does slightly less damage, for a much easier and consistent rotation without having to worry about fucking up cooldowns.
Standard LMB->RMB->2 repeat, 5 ember stack, Force Blast-->Hm Inferno-->Dragon Blaze/Dual Dragons->Standard LMB->RMB->2 repeat
Use Blaze inbetween dual dragons cooldowns, FireFury if you fuck up your fire orbits.
Low Focus? Use Tornado/Short Fuse.
Very easy, very simple, acceptable damage output.
I wish that they'd remove the auto detonate on T4 and above so it gets the additional damage, but the extra burn damage on HM LMB T5S2 made this build obsolete.
Preferentially, this build is a lot more fun to play over the constant attempts at F Spam Fury and Blazes.

I'm a WoW Veteran too who has been looking for a new MMO since late WotLK, though I've also tried ones released before then such as Aion, AoC, and whatnot. The game right now is going through some changes so some of these things I'll be saying are subject to change in the near future.
Anyway, the biggest difference to WoW is that you do not gear yourself through drops for the most part. You get these Hongmoon accessories and your Hongmoon weapon at levels 1-20 and you keep using them until the max level and beyond. Any and all dungeon drops you get are only used to upgrade them. E.g. to level your weapon further, you'll need the dungeon drop weapon of the same kind (sword for sword etc.) from a dungeon of the appropriate level, and same for accessories. That's the easy part. The hard part, at max level, is getting the gold for the other materials required for each upgrade.
Your starting weapon eventually ends up a legendary. The exception to this rule is that now at max level you can get a legendary necklace and ring as drops from the harder dungeons that replace your starting shit. You still upgrade those with money, though, and your starting crap can be salvaged into jewels that are used to level them, giving you some of your investment back.
The second big difference is that the endgame, up until now, has not been raids. Dungeons have had two modes: the 6-man, i.e. the normal mode, and the 4-man, i.e. the heroic mode. The heroics, in the past, would drop the good stuff, but recently they've equalized the loot tables a bit, with 4-mans coming out ahead mostly in cosmetics and better chances at dropping rare items and materials worth selling. Now, though, we are getting 24-man raids. The current raid is still an LFR tier cakewalk for the most part, but the future ones are supposed to be quite a bit harder. There’s also one solo dungeon, Mushin Tower, and a pseudo-PvP solo dungeon with rewards, Tower of Infinity.

Another big difference is that there is no armor. As was discussed, all the gearing up happens through upgrading the same items with drops and gold. As such, cosmetics are mostly transmogs in WoW terms. You get some as drops, and some are bought from the cash shop. Cash shop gold can be bought with in-game gold but as a new player the prices are steep. One outfit is some 10-20 dollaridoos or 100-200g depending on the exchange rates at present. Your main items are your weapon, your ring, your earring, your necklace, your belt, and your soul. Apart from those, you use a soulshield that consists of 8 pieces. There are sets with set bonuses and you look to mix them for the optimal gains.
There are factions in the game, two (“Red” and “Blue”), just like in WoW, but they don’t exactly work the same way. You choose one at level 5 or so and you can only join clans of your own faction. However, you can talk to anyone from the other clan just like normal and you can do whatever you want with them unless you’re wearing clan outfits. With the outfits on, it’s FFA PvP. World PvP isn't all that popular so factions only really matter for clans.
And, building on that, as for the PvP, there are three kinds: equalized arena, unequalized battlegrounds, and unequalized, faction-based World PvP. With faction PvP quite uninteresting to most, the first two are more important. The main attraction of the game has always been 1v1 as far as PvP is considered. Gear does not matter and there are some tournaments, but it never became the kind of esport it is/was in Korea. 3v3 is a less serious mode that’s a tag match rather than the 3v3 you have in WoW. I.e. only one player on the field from each team at a time outside intervenes of a few seconds that everyone has 3 of per match. BGs are 6v6 and your gear matters there. These are all ranked.

Actually this was based on the time where using Fire Blaze was actually a big DPS loss.
So at the time this build did slightly mroe damage than running fire fury and S2 LMB palm.
I got used do it and never changed it.

The game is quite grindy. In the future, you’re looking to do one Black Tower or whatever other raid per week, and outside that, you’ll be grinding money for gear. Money is THE thing in this game. It buys gear. It buys cosmetics. It buys most things. As such, you’re free to do whatever you want as long as it makes money, but you’re looking at a LOT of hours spent on grinding money if you want to have the best possible gear. You really don’t need to be gear capped to do shit, though, and practically no one is.
Dailies, in this game too, are a great source of money, but they’re a bit less tedious than in WoW if you ask me. You don’t do them for reputation, but for gold and exp. Every dungeon has a dailies to it, every PvP mode has dailies to it, all solo content has dailies to it etc. so you’re free to do what you want, with a limit of 40 dailies per day. Some things are more efficient at making money than others, but in the end, just do whatever you want to do.
AND, ACTUALLY, I forgot to mention something important: the game has no healers. We have tanks but no healers, and the endgame revolves around not taking damage by walking out of the fire on the ground, or using iframes to avoid a wave of fire coming at you. That is to say, everyone in a group has more responsibility in BnS. If you fuck up, you die, and you fuck things up for your group. No healer will save your ass if you’re retarded.
