Dear /owg/, I must ask you all a serious question.

I was in a match earlier where we had a junkrat who kept throwing his trap in front of him when attacking the enemy team's roadhog, and was doing a dance around it so that the hog was always in front of the trap.

I asked why he did that, and he said it was because if the hog tried to hook him, the hook would hit the trap instead and he'd be safe.

Is this actually true or was he just being a retard?

I gain about 30-40 per win. Depends on how hard you carry and how badly the enemy team loses. It works the same way as losses, as far as I know. The more you win in a row, the more you get per game until you lose. Once you hit an area where you belong, it balances out to about 30 for a win, 20ish for a loss, unless you hit a losing streak. If you get on one of those, it can go up to -100 per loss.

I had that problem before the Sombra release, it has to do with your internet connection. This game has a real problem with dealing with only moderate latency. It used to be almost unplayable with 80 ping.

Pick 2 from each section that look good to you. You want to always be able to fill a slot that your team need. In my opinion, focus on these for starting out

Soldier 76 and Genji

S76 is the best damage dealer in the pool right now, so it's useful to be able to use him, should no one on your team pick him. Playing him teaches you about positioning with your team and improving your aim.
Genji is a flanker, someone who focuses on picking off the enemy team's backline and priority targets. Getting good with him teaches you how to handle a more mobile character and picking when to engage and when to run.

Mei and Widowmaker/Hanzo

Mei is proficient at isolating and disabling enemy heroes, allowing your team to make easy pick offs. Playing Mei will help your aim (Use your M2, don't be a retard) and will help you learn when an enemy is out of position and when you can capitalize on it.
Widowmaker/Hanzo are snipers. Simple as that. Pick off high priority targets from a distance. Playing them helps your aim and reading where targets are going to move.

Reinhardt is pretty much the only tank in Overwatch, in the traditional sense of the word. Playing him will teach you when to focus on protecting your teammates and when you need to get in and wreck the enemy. (Tip: Reinardt's not a pussy, don't play him like one)
D.va is a tank that specializes on moving in to assist in killing priority targets. Her boost has a low cooldown and allows her to move around pretty freely. Defense Matrix is incredibly useful for completely eliminating enemy projectiles. It negates devastating ultimates like Pharah and Reaper and can eat projectile ults like Zarya, Mei and Hanzo. Playing her teaches you dive tactics, when to move in and fight and when to back the fuck up. It also helps you become more aware of your surroundings, watching to projectiles and possible ultimates that you might need to eat

Zenyatta and Ana (Lucio is braindead easy. Stay with your team, use your auras)

Zenyatta is incredibly useful to adding that extra bit of damage to your team. He has a single heal over time mechanic that's basically set it and forget it. His Discord Orb gives increased damage to any enemy who has it. His ultimate can save the team from what would normally be a wipe (such as a good good Reaper ult or getting caught in Zarya's). Playing him teaches you to observe your team and the enemy simultaneously. Realizing when you need to ulot and which targets you ned to Discord.
Ana is a single target healer, and very good at it. She can heal up close or from a distance with unscoped or scoped fire. Her grenade boost healing done for allies and reduces all healing to enemies. Her sleep dart allows you to stop enemy channeled ultimates or save yourself or an ally from a flanking Tracer or Genji. Playing her teaches you more positioning and observation. Paying attention to multiple targets who may need healing while simultaneously watching your team's flanks to keep them safe.

So long as you were picking off those backlines healers and squishy offense heroes, you're contributing to the team.
