Thieves guild has this Nightingale part and that shit isn't about thievery.
You kill a bunch of vampires on dawnguard initially. Rest of it is about hiring people who contribute nothing, chasing after elder scrolls, going to soul-cairn, dealing with Falmer lore etc. Then you get to kill vampires again for a brief time and that's it. Not to mention how the game forces you a vampire companion despite sticking with the hunters.

I don't know who was in charge of guilds in Skyrim but they did a horrible job

just installed my new weapon mod

Been ripping my hair out trying to figure out what was causing npc's eyes to stop tracking the player.
In case anyone else is having this issue, it's from PC Head Tracking by HHaleyy.
Have to use a version prior to 3.5, before he implemented player eye tracking.
For some reason, the moment you go into third person and start head/eye tracking all npcs lose the ability to move their eyes, aside from blinking, they just stare straight ahead into the void.

You'll just have to compromise.
Pick which textures you can't live without, or a lower res version of them if available, and if a lower res version isn't available, follow the step guide for something like ddsopt for a quicker, but dirtier solution than optimizing every texture by hand.
Also, if you use Skyrim Flora Overhaul, it is a notorious vram hog, and you should definitely run it through ddsopt if you plan on using it.
Also, you could install something like MSI Afterburner to monitor your vram usage in-game using the OSD.

To play devils advocate here.

The depth in the regular modding scene is infinite compared to what's available for SE right now. One key resource that allows certain types of mods to even function isn't available yet for SE and looks like it won't be for a little while. If you want to get playing right away and want the most mods available now then regular is the way to go.

SE does however have a non-trivial performance increase. The base game looks a tad better and the 64 bit engine will allows future mods in the months and years to come to be of a larger scale than those currently available for regular.

Quite a few of the "key" / most popular regular Skyrim mods have already made their way on to SE and you can bet that once SSKSE comes out most other "must have" mods will follow suit.

Again, while regular has much better modding now - if you're planning to Skyrim for the REAL long haul (as in years) then I would put a cautionary recommendation for SE. It will scale better into the future with the more robust engine and over time the modding scene is likely to be just as prolific if not more-so, thanks to console audience.

Yeah, it took me 3 tries but I was able to get the fucking thing to update. Had to make a new save for all my characters though, cause the Dynamic part wasnt updating (you can see in this screenshot. No Windmills, its an issue caused by Skymills).

So thats one of a couples reasons why I haven't done a storytime or posted new screens of my other characters. Gotta redo all said saves.

Here's my update process for fixing DynDOLOD:

1, Go to an indoor cell (Breezehome is my typical go-to since I can immediately see if I fucked up)
2. Disable DynDOLOD via MCM
3. Full save, exit
4. Disable DynDOLOD Output mod in MO
5. Open Skyrim, open save.
6. Wait 30 seconds to let ActiveScripts do their thing.
7. New full save, exit.
8. Clean save with SGSC.
9. Rebuild DynDOLOD, enable output mod in MO.
10. Done. Open your save and walk outside.

This is similar to the README's update procedure, but DynDOLOD leaves lots of dead scripts if you're not careful, thus the SGSC step.

First try I got a corrupted nif and backing up my skyrim to the old DyndoLOD save. Second time I couldnt save, I would keep CTDing. So I tried anyway, I had building LODs in the middle of rivers. Third time was at High Hrothgar, I did the qasmoke trick to load my save and was able to save. While it worked, DyndoLOD wouldn't update unless I started a new game. So I said fuck it, and spent another 5 hours getting Snakestone to about where he was on the old save.

Im never touching DyndoLOD again. Atleast Pinegrove and Little Vivec finally have LODs.

Technically speaking, that particular character seemed like it came from the "half dragon race" mod, which has textures/horns similar to that character.

I do know that humanoid argonians existed in arena but past that their look has changed considerably from humanoid to more reptilian. Khajiits are a different story since they have different breeds/species depending on the Moon phases.

It's not mutilations specifically, it's the "cinematic" miniature cut-scene that plays when you strike the final blow on some enemies. It's usually locked to kills that will take you out of combat (the last enemy in a group for example). Decapitations are included in this, but it's just an additional cut-scene type added by a perk that gives other bonuses.

If you've ever seen the throat-slitting animations of sneak attacks, it's like those. The reason they behave wonky at higher levels in game is because of a quirk in Skyrim.

The game behaves a little weird when deciding if a kill-cam is going to be triggered off REALLY BIG hits. Though I'm not sure if it was ever 100% confirmed, sometimes you will trigger kill-cams on enemies or they will trigger kill-cams on you even when the strike in question should never have killed.

It was surmised that this was happening because the game was taking the damage of the strike and comparing it to the health of the target and executing the animation from there - skipping the inclusion of armor.

It's especially noticeable if you make a character with low health but really expensive armor and high armor skill. You'll be fighting a bandit boss and he'll be doing 10% of your health per swing and then once you reach half hp he'll trigger a kill-cam and you die immediately.

My orc started out as a kind of aspiring magic knight, but wound up turning into an artsy master crafter as I got further into the playthrough. Turns out I really like creating ridiculous enchanted equipment.

His final loadout was dual wielding a stalhrim mace with chaos and paralysis enchants named Rhapsody Impact, and a daedric sword named Ravenous Edge with health absorb and fiery soul trap.

His dragonbone bow is called Ruination Arc to keep with the theme, and has chaos and health absorb.

Crafting is fun. I like to imagine that weapon set turning into a trio of legendary artifacts after his death, that start popping up with various wielders over time, à la Spellbreaker.

She "owns" a lodge south of Whiterun, nestled up against the White River.
I say own because from two purloiners who passed themselves as off as merchants held the deed for it. The man who sold it to them, gave it at a relatively cheap price because it was supposedly Haunted.
Some things happened, there was a fight, and she got a hold of the deed, happy to have a place to live. It was as rumored.
Ra came in and "ate" the ghost, so it's all safe. The forest around it thrives with wildlife, rabbits and other small game of the sort. But still shadowed in tales of exaggeration, so nobody dares to step towards it.
It hasn't been used for a year though due to a recent urgency, and is home to a single greasy black, and unusually small, sabrecat named Malakai.

Animation-wise: No. Animation in Skyrim is a good step up from Oblivion.
Gameplay: Debatable - Oblivion XP/class system is more classic, when Skyrim is more modern. Both are good imo.
Story: Main quests are both soso, but Oblivion has better side quests
Atmosphere: I like the vivid colors in Oblivion much more than Skyrim, the game also has a cozy feeling in it even when you are inside a dungeon or in the middle of a crowded city.
Modding: Oblivion hands down. Remember to get Unique Landscapes and Better Caves, you won't be disappointed. Also Oblivion has more fleshed out lewd mods if you are into that.

Oblivion has stronger RPG elements than Skyrim. Purely on gameplay it's hard to say it's worse than Skyrim even vanilla. Writing, especially on the main quest, has issues. The Oblivion and Oblivion with Guns era is probably the low ebb for Bethesda writing (the player character isn't even the main character in either of those games), though they haven't improved that much since. Some of the side quests in Oblivion are quite good, and the Shivering Isles expansion is notably excellent.

Definitely grab some NPC overhaul because potato faces are not pleasant to look at.
Warning that combat in Oblivion is pretty boring and the third person camera doesn't work like Skyrim. Try to find a camera mod that suits your need and be careful when changing your ini file for them.
Decide early on if you want to use Ultra Violence or other "combat enhancement" mods (That's a lie, they don't enhance much, more like adding some stuffs for your gory needs) because iirc they require different skeletons.
Grab like 4-5 animation mods to make your character look less like an ape.
Armor replacer is based on your taste, but I suggest going full banana with DMRA if you like fun ;)
Modding in Oblivion is generally harder than Skyrim so just start with a few mods. Things can break easily and you will spend a lot of time looking for the cause if you install a bunch of them at the same time. Also, pay close attention to patches if the mods have them.

How do you like to keep your characters gameplay balanced when creating a story? A few examples of this would be that cool new armor mod you have that fits your character perfectly but may be too strong to have starting out. Even a sword that has personal meaning to your character but it's in the daedric category.

Somehow I went from being determined to finally play my mod list which I completed at long last... to working up a lewd mod list that I'm not sure I'll even use. Help I think there's something wrong with me. I'm not sure if I actually enjoy the game anymore, I think I just like sorting and solving software dependency issues.
