it's still a lot of fun. There is a shit ton of ganking for sure, but with that amount of people it also means you have a lot of potential friends to give you a hand and work together with.
There will always be times you're being camped and it may suck a bit, but with the absurd population it gives you lots of ways to correct the situation and make fun friends.
Compare that to a 200 pop server where if you're being corpse camped by someone geared enough and bored enough to fuck with you for hours (and assuming you don't just spirit rez if you're not a class that can escape) - you'd never be able to find someone to give you a hand.

I played on retro for 2 weeks and stopped because the lag is unbearable. Didn't play on any of the others other than Gurubasher for literally 5 minutes before logging off because it had a population of 20 which defeats the purpose of the server nor am I playing Everquest. Nice try though, that's not "server hopping"

Leveling on Nostalrius was almost impossible before the server shutdown. I only started playing on Nostalrius right before the shutdown, and got to level 30 without much trouble at all, but I literally could not level past 30. It took forever to get my priest from 30 to 34, and I already pretty much was about to quit the server before it got shutdown (didn't play for a week before the announcement).
Hillsbrad. Impossible. Ganked instantly by 60s patrolling the entire zone. I even tried to kill random mobs in Alterac (like grinding Ogres and Syndicate mobs) and 60s were patrolling there the entire time. Couldn't do anything there.
Shimmering Flats. Impossible. Gank squads running around everywhere. The 25-30 portion of 1k needles was fine though, outside of rogues constantly camping the escort quest end spot. I got killed 3 times by 60 rogues at the end of the 1k needles escort quest before giving up on it.
Arathi Highlands. Impossible outside of killing Kobolds in that cave next to the horde town. But good luck not getting ganked by the 1000 people your level there because its the only place they weren't getting killed.
Ashenvale - Not much here after 30, and I was getting ganked hardcore here also.
STV - lol
Desolace - I even was getting ganked by 60s here the entire time. I managed to grind some random mobs in the corner for awhile to get the majority of the exp I got from 30-34.
It's going to be even worse when the server comes up. I'm not even going to bother, just going to wait for the new server.

I don't get why you people are so agitated about the fresh server still coming a few weeks after the old ones.
All nostalgiafags will be likely playing their characters on the old server most of the time, cutting down some population issues.
It's likely the chink gold selling market will be split up onto the old and new server (although the new server will likely be the major focus)
This gives time for people who work meme jobs (cough cough Retail / Service jobs) to schedule time off to play at the launch.
This gives more time for everyone to be ready and prepared for the launch (including the staff, who will need to assure there is a smooth launch.)
