Honestly Gearmaster should be entirely reworked.

I do love this class and it remains my favorite but still, GM would be a lot more fun and a lot better if they just put the towers at the actual forefront of the class if they're not going to buff ducks. They make up such an insignificant portion of your damage and they barely function half the time.

I hear TalonRO is still good. I haven't played it since I didn't like pre-renewal.

NovaRO was a renewal server I played. It has custom events and instances and the GMs are quite nice and helpful.
It does have cash shop items that have stats BUT it's not a big boost in damage, only like 5% or less. Also they are tradeable with in game gold. It also doesn't have protection when enchanting stuff. I asked once and they said it would be p2w if they put it in the cash shop and if they make a custom quest to give protection items then they would have to make it difficult. They didn't want to do that since instead of doing a quest you can just grind for a new weapon/armor and hope it doesn't break next time.

I need your help /mmog/.
I've been playing Tera since before it went free to play. I had my fun but at this point, its run its course for me and I just can't really bring myself to want to play anymore.
I've tried the big "tera-killers";B&S, Vindictus, BDO, Revelation, etcetc--but they just weren't really for me.
Is there any other mmo currently available that has very similar styled combat? I've always loved Tera's combat but the current state of the game is just dreadful.

PSO2 has two glaring issues
A) The "english" playerbase
and
B) The game content (progression system is wonky if not the least and mid to endgame consists of dressup and EMEGENECY MISSHIONs) and weak feeling combat for certain weapons (gauntlets are Inflatable Bop'em's with explosive soundeffects)

I do suggest trying it out though, getting to install the shit takes somewhat long if you're away from Japan, and the translation patch is somewhat sketchy and generally shitty but if you can get past that, you can understandably have at least a month or two of good fun.

A lot of the early ones were text-based, MUDs and MOOs and the like, and eventually people tried to adapt that to graphics, I'm sure there were some 2d ones around but the most well-known was Everquest which in its early days even functioned like a MUD, where you clicked on an NPC to target them so you could type out all the text prompts like 'say "hello" npcnamehere' and you'd have to carefully read chat for any keywords. As MMOs would cater to these kinds of veterans, they'd let the new players more or less suffer and get scared off and the playerbase would stagnate until the devs made some sort of mistake with an update that pissed off the veterans and reminded them it was just a game rather than a major facet of their life and soon the veterans would flee, the game would already be branded as elitist and the damage done by the new player experience and so forth.

Some noticed the large asian market where culturally speaking, wealth is power, if you have enough wealth you should be able to overcome anything was the mentality they had, so devs tried to cater to this crowd front-loaded with their own elitism to cover the horrendous costs to the company.

GM is just making sure you keep everything off coldown as much as possible. It doesn't matter too much what order you do it in as we don't rely on combos at all. Each skill is pretty much a singular, unrelated action to the next.

But, skill priority is:
Turrets all in range of boss > Chem grenade > Gigaton quack > mech chainsaw > kami quackum (the duck bombing skill) > mech canon just because it's the easiest to land and spam

Generally speaking how I play looks something like this:
>plop down all my turrents
>toss in chem grenade
>pop kami quackum if I have 3 ducks because it takes forever to start up
>rocket crash into gigaton quack
>switch to mech mode and chainsaw
>shoot a few canon shots until chainsaw is off cooldown and shoot it again
>exit mech mode and restart

Shouldn't be that much different with awakening as it mostly just allows you to be in mech mode for much longer due to the tower duration increase/recall. And less duck management since you can bring out all 4 at once.

As for the alfredo thing, I don't think he's worth bothering with at all after awakening. You don't have the SP to delve into alfredo tank and everything else he has is worthless.

Gatling does good damage if you can hit with it, it's just annoying to actually hit with and has a lot of dead time. I find ice pump's damage is pretty good too if you want to use that, but chainsaw quackum is far and away the most important.

Sadidas can off heal and off tank. They will never equal an Eni when healing or a Feca when tanking.

What they do is overwhelm the opponent with their dolls.

Not Osa's themselves but they have summons that can heal. Osa's also have a spell that boosts their pet's healing power.

Every MMO that comes out is the same regurgitated shit that nobody ever asked for. It pales in comparison to actual videogames and feels like a mockery. Anytime I download an MMO and I'm immediately greeted with a field and a bunch of stupid enemies wandering around with massive nametags and health bars above their heads, I uninstall. Or a tutorial area with hordes of players gathered around a single NPC as he tells you that you're the only person who can accomplish [task]. Gameplay is entirely focused around combat with little consideration given to adventure, exploration, creating things, interacting with people in unique and interesting ways and etc. The method to create a fun MMO is not something difficult to understand but developers are terrified of wasting time and money on something different that won't yield.

Hey I played The Old Republic Beta when it came out and never hopped on with the rest of my guildmates. Instead I went to playing EVE Online after WoW and I quit WoW rather early into wrath.

What I want to ask is now that its been a few expansions and the game has fleshed out a bit has The Old Republic made itself its own MMO? Or is it still rather empty with everyone soloing all of the time.

I play MMO's to group with people and do stuff and strongly dislike the tendency a lot of newer MMO's have made towards making their games favor solo content. Honestly I think people should go fuck themselves if they solo in an MMO. Is there fun group stuff to do while leveling and at end game yet or should I just stick with EVE as my only MMO?

I only ask because EVE doesn't really take a lot of your time like other MMO's its a lot more freeform in how you get content out of the game. However EVE is a game where I can't really hang out and have fun with random people doing party stuff. EVE is like real life war where people try and take your shit and your constantly pitted against people trying to fuck with you and your friends.

Stick with EVE, or try WoW again. There's not many populated MMOs out there to actually play with others. And even those are generally empty during the leveling phase.

Please recommend me a new MMO that :

Have multiple starting towns.

Doesn't have rail-road, hand-holding, obligatory quests.

You don't need to be at level cap to function (killing high-tier bosses, participate in guild war etc).

Low level monster have good drops that is useful for even high level players.

Low level equips can be turned into something decent and on par or even better than some high-tier boss loot.

Doesn't have "raid" instances, all bosses spawns in normal maps and people have to compete to kill them.

I made a few characters in LaTale and got them to 100+. The game is pretty boring. The quests are all the same, kill x monster x many times or gather x amount of items. Leveling is pretty fast up until 140 then it slows down quite a bit.

It has a variety of classes to choose from but all of them only have a few skills and you use the same skill until level 1-170. You might get maybe 1 or 2 new skills to use when advancing jobs but that's it. For example a warrior, the spear stab skill is your main skill until 4th job. The only difference from 2nd and 3rd job is that it hits more times. No new animation or anything, just a second number that pops up. It is unsatisfying and because of this there's really nothing to look forward to when leveling up which makes the grind that much more tedious.

Movement is also janky. I never understood why the game needed a walk instead of just running all the time. If you sprint and jump into a ladder and immediately jump off again you lose the sprint which makes platforming quite difficult. Then there's also the problem of jumping from platform to platform. Sprinting and jumping launches you halfway across the map but walking and jumping doesn't even get you anywhere. You can't even jump down from the platform and have to find a ledge or a ladder to go down on.

I agree. The players that get dragged in my the "10,000 man battle" headlines typically aren't the most proactive lot from my experience. They're players that want to share a part in something that already exists, they want the experience of the battle, "to be a part of that". They log n, join a nullsec alliance, and wait... They'll wait years in order to be a part of "that event" rating and farming indexes up. "Its cool to watch the power shifting around you."

I'm not knocking nullsec, ironically people in EVE Online general would consider me one of the "Worst Sorts of Players" a nullsec multibox miner. I'm a part of Nullsec and see what I'm talking about first hand every day.

The thing I think is sad or that I have trouble with is that a lot of those people don't really get what being a part of the sandbox is. They never see themselves as part of a living breathing world. They're like people that will watch Dungeons and Dragons be played but they'll never make a character and join the stories themselves.

Its such a waste. They're the people that make the game feel empty sometimes. You can knock miners for doing boring repetitive shit but at least the actual miners do it because they want to be a part of the game world. They're in space doing stuff, building ships, selling off minerals to other players, training alts and fueling structures and capital ships. They aren't doing it to sit on a pile of spare cash, they've bought into the sandbox and get money because they have hopes and dreams and goals of their own in game.

They don't just sit and wait hoping to leech onto a gaming headline.

Anyway if anyone wanna start Mabinogi, get master Warrior first, then Bard. It will make anylater game so much easier for everyone and you. You can get Magic/Alchemy, whatever later, just do yourself a favor and get Master Warrior and Bard. You want that extra HP and def, also Lullaby is just broken for any low lvl content. Battlefield overture will be your bread and butter if you wanna focus on anything but magic/alchemy.
