Guys, help me out here. How do you deal with a team that's defending really well and dishing out serious damage? If I play tank, I'm deleted instantly. If I'm support, I can't deal with all the damage. Most of my lost games aren't because the team is trickling in one by one into the fight or doing other retarded shit like that, but rather because we can't break through the enemy's defense. Anyone got any tips? I'm fine with losing, but I don't like feeling like I haven't given my 100%.

You can accomplish the same thing by defending further up and not allowing the team to set up a free bastion + Rein or torb or whatever combo on the payload and start moving. It's a lot easier to defend when they have to take fire just to reach the payload and those that do get mopped up before they get much momentum.

If you let them get to the corner you're 1 team wipe away from them easily pushing past the gas station and approaching the checkpoint. If you team wipe up front you can still contend on the gas station/first corner

The gas station is good vs the first push, and you should stay around it while defending. However, unless the attacking team is particularly disorganized, it's too risky to spend your time defending the bridge in front of the billboard. Last time I was on Route 66 the enemy team was very disorganized and we were able to keep them at the bridge in front of the choke. This was after the payload had moved back from the gas station, where we had stopped them dead. It's quite effective.

In a perfect world, your DPS should be stealing Damage Done and Eliminations from you, and probably Objective Kills as well. The only thing a good team should be letting a tank gold medal in would be objective time.

Overwatch is heavily team based and when the other 5 members of your team spend all game running in alone and dying over and over you have zero hope of carrying them to a victory since even the best players can't 1v6

If you doubt me, tank down to Silver and see how long it takes you to get back out, it will be well over 500 games.
