That is understandable. Now with the update he doesn't look quite the same as before, so for me the face is acceptable, but the hair is too short and it was better when combed back. Maybe they didn't want him to resemble Geese or something, but then again they look different, plus in that case they could've given him his RBFFS hair. Either way we got what we got and I'm ok with it. I didn't expect them to suddenly change his hair.

IIRC though, all the clones including Kusanagi just have variations on what he had in the past games. Hell, Kusanagi is just 95 Kyo with Ge Shiki HSDM and counter elbow added.

They really should consider doing character modes if they ever bother with alt versions of characters already on the roster, like isms in SFA3 or selecting versions in SF2 Anniversary Collection. Or consider for-fun customizables usable only in casual matches and not ranked.

But there are people who prefer Terry with power dunk and not rising tackle for some reason, or want both like in 97, or want a short 96 style qcf move instead of a full distance projectile, triple geyser instead of a comboing geyser, etc. Having an EX version would make them tourney useable, but customizable would make things fun for people who just want to fuck around.

It's a little moe how SNK is learning 3D as XIV is going along.

GGPO uses a netcode technique called “rollback”. Rather than waiting for input to be received from other players before simulating the next frame, GGPO predicts the inputs they will send and simulates the next frame without delay using that assumption. When other players’ inputs arrive, if any input didn’t match the prediction, GGPO rolls back the state of the game to the last correct state, then replays all players’ revised inputs back until the current frame. The survey isn't by orochinagi as far as I know, they just helped spread it. I think it's good of SNK to support it, since in a way it helps organize people's demands. I remember the results of the english survey being posted and the number one thing they wanted was a proper story for all teams besides the ones that already have their own CGI cutscenes before fighting Verse. I remember seeing extra DLC characters near the bottom of the list.
I'd tread carefully around orochinagi though, someone who runs their twitter once suggested removing safe jump-ins and even atma went against them for it.

During development SNK was pretty much broke, chinese overlords didn't even give them money because if they did the game wouldn't have turned out the way it did, they didn't even have the environment/tools to even make games in 3D, didn't have access to previous assets, recruited people from schools, they mentioned that their workers didn't even know hot to use unreal engine 4 and crunched the numbers and it would've been more expensive to keep licensing it if they wanted to release more games than making their own. Based on that, do you think they would've been able to implement good rollback netcode, something that even capcom (which as of now is considerably bigger) than SNK hasn't done for their flagship fighting series. Sure KI did it, but they're being backed by Microsoft. All sony did for KoF was some marketing.

Now knowing that they managed to implement pretty decent delay netcode assuming both players aren't on wifi or have shit connections and have managed to fix some bugs with it, even upgrade the visuals (which is indicative to knowing their engine inside and out and making improvements on it), added colors, support tournaments and even are going to hold their equivalent of capcup all for free. Also they don't want to outsource their shit and want to develop their games in-house, which in a way helps keep things consistent. With the resources they have that's quite a bit of support they're giving their game. Maybe they'll be able to get rollback netcode once they're back on their feet? As of now they're still trying to claw themselves out of the hole they got into while they still had the playmore name attached to them.

Shame I slept through the hundred posts of netcode arguing. I have to deliver my rant late, as I can't pass a chance to shout at clouds.

But seriously, how, once again, there goes past all this netcode talk without anyone bringing up the shit that actually fucking matters and is of way higher priority than the netcode.
In XIV the netcode itself is fine, it works, it's not broken. The shit all around it on the other hand is fucking busted.
When you connect to opponent you see little bars. What are those?
They claim to show the connection quality, but that's fucking bullshit as the bars don't in anyway correlate to the match experience.
They should ether make it so that those bars are actually accurate, or use a easy universal and pretty objective measurement for connection. Ping.
Simple number in milliseconds that shows you if you should waste your fucking time or not.

Also, who thought up the region system for KoF online should be stripped naked, covered in butter and walked through busy downtown.
My options are people in same country (which means a playerbase of three people) or the world, which is fucking big, too big.
I'd love to play some ranked, but the lack of proper region filter and fucked up connection quality bars, means that I ether play with no one on same region, or with penguins from Antarctica.

After that kind of basic shit that ensures that you can even find good matches are fixed, then you can start talking about secondary shit like implementing rollback netcode.

it's also not just work but cleverness, so knowledge and creative solutions are what factor into it a significant way

and even when you use a kit like ggpo, you have to proprietize it or it's not going to be effective anyway, especially in a console application, and i can tell you a lot of people who implemented it well enough to work allright had to tweak plenty of things for their own projects
