I oneshot the entire screen three times. Literally. Massive pack spawns, destroy it. Massive pack spawns, destroy it. Massive pack spawns, destroy it.
Still not enough. By the time the third wave is waltzing in you either have to run or alt+f4. ESPECIALLY if its a fucking lightning breach. Those are quite possibly the hardest.

The upper nodes would be good for Wildstrike. Elemenal pen is basically +more damage.
The lower nodes are kinda iffy IMO. The only way it even makes sense is going Raider and getting the Onslaught path (but the Frenzy path is better so get that first), but even then you're only getting +10% chance to proc onslaught on kill, and about +50% evasion (halved without onslaught) which is ok for an EVA character but not fantastic... all for 3 points that might be way more useful somewhere else.
Personally I'm going to experiment with that cluster and see how it feels on my Raider, but I have a suspicion that it's not going to be worth it in the end.

I'm not sure it would IF you're using a skill that scales off of attack damage (if you're using a spell then yeah Phasing is better). The Phasing/Veil path gets you 40% elemental damage, sure, but the Onslaught path gets you 40% attack damage AND 40% attack speed which is fucking crazy. Onslaught also gives you more movement speed (40% vs 28%) than the phasing. They have the same Evasion bonus so that's a wash. The phasing path does have better defenses - 6% dodge, 10% spell dodge, and immunity to ailments (which is pretty huge) but is that a good trade for 40% attack speed? Onslaught also lasts longer, but Phasing is easier to proc, although either one can be proc'd on demand with a flask so whatever.
Really it's going to depend on what skills you're using and how badly you want the immunity to status ailments (like say running Vinktar's). As much as I love dodge and immunity to status ailments, I really think the Frenzy/Onslaught split is the way to go. Not much for defenses there but you might not need much of it when you become an attack speed/damage monster.
And keep in mind it is possible to regret ascendancy points (just expensive)

Neither is a bad choice per se, I just think that Onslaught is going to out damage the phasing route almost every situation just from the attack/cast speed boost. If you need the defenses more than the damage then Phasing is fine though.

The only way it could be mildly useful for an ED/Cong/Wither Totem build was if it was a long-range, single target damage while channeled, because that is just about the only time when ED completely fails.
And even then, I doubt many people would use it.
