From the googledoc we have the SMR dealing 115+150 splash damage to titans, and can get criticals.
The EPG does 500+1300, and can get criticals
The Softball deals 0+330 damage, with no criticals.

Now with fire rates, all rounds hitting the SMR will be dealing out 2385 damage a second.
The EPG will only put out 1800 in that time.
The Softball comes in at 660 damage per second on titans.

So if you're landing every shot, the SMR is the way to go for killing titans.

The splitter shot kit is not that bad, since it basically turns your rifle into a shotgun. It's good for when you're trying to pick off pilots without Laser Shot or need to mass damage on an exposed enemy Titan.

your shoulder laser will always be your main source of damage, it's a hit scan attack that, on a critical will take off an entire bar of health on a Titan. It's also independent of your ammo supply so you can still apply pressure from your rifle with it.

I go with the trip mines kit, or the shield amp.

Toss out a holopilot into a place where you know (or think) people are at, and pick them off while they shoot at your double.

If you're on the run, you can break line of sight, send out a double, and go in a different direction and get a kill while their back is turned.

It was bounty hunt in Boomtown, and I'd grappled over to the side of the large building overlooking the bridge on the first wave. I'd executed a guy who was on top of the building, and then got down to the ground floor to find two guys with Devotions firing out into the smoke.
They both put down their Walls, and I walked up the second after and executed one, then the other.

I've still a long way to go before I get the phase execution...

Overwatch, compared to other games of its ilk, has a shitton of lore and backstory. Interestingly, the game itself is non-canon, as it's just a bunch of "what if?" scenarios. The real story happens in comics and external material. People love the various trailers, both for the production value and the character interactions. To be frank, the lore is part of what makes the game so appealing to people, because it engages them more. Lore provides context, and context makes things more meaningful.

The fire from the gass canisters goes through the shield, iirc.
Either way, you can also shoot your gas next to and past their shield, meaning if they want to use it, they'll get melted.

Your gas can and thermite launcher have different arcs to them, learn them so you can quickly pop out a gas can and ignite it for quick splash damage without needing to use your firewall.

If anyone is stupid enough to get close to you, Flame Shield their ass. Most titans are at low health when they use their core, if you're right by them, your flame shield can often doom them while the core is either charging or just starting to deal damage before it negates your shield.

Since most people have learned that Scorch is not someone you want to be in melee range of, anyone, especially ronins, running close to you while doomed or near it probably has nuke eject on. Save your dash for when they activate it so you can be out of range.

Dash kit and Flame Shield.
It's pretty much the only thing anyone ever uses once they're unlocked.

If you're real good at the artillery fire of the thermite launcher you can give the increase thermite kit a try, but thermal plating doesn't really do enough to warrant not having any of the other kits. Scorched earth I've heard good things about, but I just don't see it being worth taking over Flame Shield. The Firewall kit makes your Firewall last like 50% longer, so if you find you like using it, you can give that a try.

In my experience the firewall kit is actually kind of a detriment. Most usage of firewall is a temporary blockade that most people will walk through and take the damage. So making it last longer will just allow your enemy to get more distance or cause you to take damage by walking through your own fire.

Seems like some very minor numbers and QoL nerfs.

Primary weapon felt a bit clunkier. Goosing pilots is still completely possible but was definitely far more difficult than usual. Pilot kills I normally would have taken for granted whiffed completely all the time, I started to resort to what I normally do on other titans, which is to say abusing the way the melee hitbox works while dodging to paint my punch over a huge AOE rather than trying to simply shoot them. Hitting titans at longer ranges felt weird too.

Something happened to the way the shot travels. I don't know if it's less accurate, travels slower while falling at the same rate, or falls more while traveling at the same speed. Maybe some combination. They might have also decreased the projectile hitbox, making direct hits on pilots that much harder.

AoE damage is DEFINITELY nerfed hard, normally it takes at most two splashes to kill pilots running along walls or the ground and pilots were often surviving three. I only noticed this because I kept barely grazing pilots rather than hitting them square on.

Tracker missiles definitely turn slower now. A lot of corner shots I was used to making whiffed. You can still hit them if they're right by the corner but gone are the days of aiming some 45-60 degrees to the left to curve the rockets so far around a corner you can get people moving along the wall to the right as they attempt to disengage. Fucking reapers dodged a lot of volleys simply by running to one side; not doing their ballet spin-dodge, simply running.

If the wall got nerfed I didn't notice. It still autowins you any engagement against any Titan other than Legion.

Salvo Core might do a LITTLE less damage. Might. I'm not sure. Nothing changed about its usage, though, and a full core still instagibs Titans without giving them a chance to eject from their perspective.

So, is being able to hear the sound and see an "inexplicable" bright light in thin air from Ronins activating nuke eject while phased out a bug or a feature? All these people are chimping out about how the new "instantly phase when doomed" is so great for nuke ejecting people and I've had Ronins in droves try and use it on me. But with that incredibly high pitched, obnoxiously loud windup sound of a nuke eject still there, it's still just as laughably easy to walk away from, and seeing the bright light pop out doesn't hurt either.

Pick the thermite gun ability and core boost. Either flank and land your full combo on some sucker's ass or just poke at someone without shields. If they shield up just go around a corner and wait to see if they chase you until their shield is down. If they chase you in a larger group than you can handle drop your electric smoke and place your traps behind it while setting them on fire. No matter what you do you should have a core when it's done so pop it and watch them all die.

EVA is fine. You slaughter people at close range and can even compete with SMGs for a short bit after "close", but you'll find yourself with enemies running around way past the single stone's throw that is shotgun effective range all the time, even considering how fast you can move around in this game.

Also Mastiff is actually a ridiculously skillful gun. The horizontal fan means that if you fuck up your vertical axis at all, you whiffed completely - and it's not a hitscan weapon, it fires projectiles. Whenever I die to a Mastiff I'm not even mad.

Attrition is the mode that requires the least thought. It's TDM but with farmable AI that clutter the battlefield, meaning you can farm them for safe score to feel like you're contributing and you can get farmed by players who get the jump on you while you're busy shooting the dumb AI. This is honestly the most "core" mode.

Bounty Hunt requires a bit more thought in how you have to balance farming up bounty from AI with chasing down the enemy team and beating the bounty they've tried and farmed out of them. The flow can be somewhat counterintuitive at times and there are ways to nearly/actually instagib the bounty AI titans for a massive lead, which turns off a lot of new players. (Seriously, why the fuck was this the first choice on the list?)

Hardpoint is damn simple too but the practice of "Amping" hardpoints rewards people who defend points. It also can result in one player pulling shit duty of literally just sucking their thumb while both teams are spawning next to and continuously fighting over another point entirely.

Absolutely do not fucking play CTF until you know how to Go Fast, because otherwise you're just going to get out-sanic'd by flagrunners who actually know how to use the movement system every single time.

Pilots versus pilots mode is a change of pace, but honestly pretty dumb because you signed up to play Titanfall, not CoD.

Last Titan Standing is good once you have a grip on the combat system and have gotten enough credits to unlock Phase Embark, which is mandatory for this mode to grab batteries and not get caught out. Biggest gameplay lesson here is if you're the last standing Titan but your pilots are still alive, fucking hide your ass and let the pilots do the work, because if your titan blows your entire team loses.

The cluster missile's effect is surprisingly non-obvious to a first timer. The firestar has a rather intense effect, Scorch's flame effects are obviously fire, and then there's the cluster missile which is this more subtle aerial popping effect. It's obvious once you learn what it is and to look out for it but it definitely catches newer players off guard.

Also, it's frankly the easier weapon to kill pilots with than your ridiculously slow-traveling projectile primary weapon.

It needs to handle differently than a Devotion, how about the exact opposite? I'd say give it a pseudo burst fire mechanic where the first 5 shots with it are laser accurate but then its cone of fire rapidly balloons to the point of uselessness, and a sufficient delay is needed before the aim stabilizes. (Kind of like how the reset on Overwatch's Soldier 76's COF is actually noticeable, but not so long that you feel like you're actively waiting.)

Giving it non-shit ironsights would also help a lot, of course.

Think of it as a Scorch thermite trap that doesn't need to be activated with a separate shot, with a greater vertical component but far less damage to enemy Titans (although it's still noticeable). I'm about 98% sure it sticks to Titans, which is hilarious when it walks through a friendly pilot when trying to retreat instinctively from your field of fire.

As with every single other titan it is just as important if not arguably more so than your titan's primary weapon. It's easier to kill fast moving pilots with (shoot it where they're going and they won't often think to turn and avoid the place you fired the cluster missile before it's already killed them) and it discourages/punishes enemy Titans for attempting to run you down.

Hey guys, I might be retarded, but I need help. two questions
I'm a ps4 player btw in case there is a difference.

When your pilot picks up a battery, and then embarks in his own titan, does the battery auto insert itself or is the pilot supposed to rodeo his own beast to insert the battery?

When you're play attrition, does it not tell you how many times a player has been killed on the scoreboard? I can see my kills but not my deaths and It makes me feel like the game is designed for noobs to not get butthurt, I just want to figure out my K/D, I've been playing pilot v. pilot exclusively now for a few days only because it clearly shows my death count
