He inspired me to wreck Freedom's shit so hard in Clear Sky. By the end of the game Freedom have 70 soldiers while Duty numbers at 388.

Nothing has ever felt as good as this, also at one point Duty outnumbered Freedom by 30-1. At the end of the game Freedom is only outnumbered by 5-1.

I forgot how many fucking nigger bandit cunt bydlo faggots you have to kill in Shadow of Chernobyl. Haven't replayed vanilla in a while, and holy fuck the little turgid cockwanks just keep fucking spawning whenever you go fucking ANYWHERE, endlessly. Also, artifacts out the fucking ass. Chugging can after can of energy drink is basically a requirement to get around when you are hauling 50kg of shiny rocks between stashes.

Also, this game is so fucking easy. The actual combat is as simple as right-click-left-click on enemies, because a couple of shots to the chest makes everyone stun/stumble for easy follow up headshots. You can just spring from cover to cover, occasionally stopping to pop people in the skull.

How2improve the Zone?

After re-reading Roadside Picnic and re-watching the film, I've noticed how much of a fucking cakewalk the games are in comparison to what's described. CoCk only drives that home harder since you now have the entire Zone to run from end-to-end, and it's actually surprisingly easy to do so.

I understand that due to it being a game there are limitations as to what they could do without turning it into a ridiculously linear singleplayer game, but what we have currently feels like more of an amusement park, with lots of small pocket Zones off to the side where STALKERs can dive into to collect their goodies and then waltz back home to collect their reward.

it's got ups and downs.

It manages to have resource pressure in Stalker, which is rare. It's a pretty heavy-handed way, but i like the fact that i need to grind for money/supplies in early/mid game.

Gunplay is fine, guns don't look good, even TAZ isn't too great(better than the normal weapons, though).

Shit ton of new misc. items(food, drugs, meds, and repair items). some people think it adds too much clutter but i kinda like it.

Artifacts are pretty weak now, they're heavy as fuck since you have to put them in a container to use/carry them safely, so i never use them. There are items to put in those slots, now.
That just highlights my issues with the stamina system in general, i always bump up regen/sprint speed in the files.

It's not a guarantee that artifacts spawn after an emission. Further, NPCs have a habit of collecting artifacts for themselves. So you want to be quick after an emission to have the best chance.

I believe the way A-life works is that all of the NPC generation/simulation is in not only running in the current map but all adjacent ones. I don't know for certain, and certainly haven't done any testing, but NPCs in surrounding maps could be picking up artifacts as well.

Try quickly traveling to a map not adjacent to your current map. You might have more luck there because the NPCs wouldn't have had as much time to wander past anomalies.

Burers are easy to kill if they are in confined quarters. Rush them with the knife and keep stabbing them in the shield. Eventually they'll put it down and hit back so keep stabbing them.

Use the trains to block their weird telekinesis attack. If you can't do it with the knife get a rapid fire weapon with low recoil and spray in their faces. They have little HP so the trick is to kill them as quickly as possible.

Ya, that's what I saw when looking at videos of stealth runs.

However, before doing the mission there was a blowout, and I was forced into the tunnels of the merc base, and they saw me already. So whenever they spot me next, they inmediatly become hostile.

Faction wars works mostly fine for me in my opinion. I ran into a bug where I already was pretty far in the game while being a Clear Sky member. I get frequent crashes while overtaking Yantar and if I stay in there for too long and save and reload it, the save is just broken. I cant even leave the area. I just fall off the map. I ran it with AO so maybe that was the issue

One, give yourself a challenge. For example beat the game (or the hard/interesting/fun areas) using pistol only or whatever.

Or two, get a mod where it's harder to get fully equipped. Personally I'm a huge fan of SGM 2.2 and SGM 2.2 + Lost Soul despite it's glaring flaws, and if the cancer and GreyBrown doesn't kill you Misery is another option.

Ironman, though I wouldn't recommend enabling ironman due to death on load bugs or AI being spawned right on top of you regardless of exclusion radius. Just don't be a bitch and manually delete your saves when your time comes.

I also force myself to go through more equipment. I probably have enough cash now to buy an exo and max upgrades but I'm going to go through at least some other suits before, same with weapons.

I can also recommend playing as factions that have less friends. Duty/Ecologist is boring because you're neutral with most factions but Military and Freedom only have two friendly factions. Mercs are my favorite since they are friendly with the best factions while enemies to the rest.

Game artificially extended through the need for incessant grinding.

This ties into the above points - gear is "tiered" in a highly immersion breaking way, with lower tier early-game equipment becoming near-useless. I still remember the first time I played ShoC many years ago - I ran out of ammo for my high-tech nato-weapon and my newly-purchased Exoskeleton was slowing me down too much, so halfway through Pripyat I ditched my rifle in favor of a common AK and found a suit of armor in a stash, and beat the game with that. That's the kind of thing you can't do in Misery.

Many immersion-breaking areas (if the greybrown and odd balance don't take you out of it already), like the "fuck you" mutant horde in Iron Forest anomaly. Quests are often redesigned in a similar fashion, which makes it very clear the devs would rather kick you in the balls than immerse you in an enhanced world.

The mod is SoC ZRP 1.1, so basically just vanilla with bug fixes

Tritium, a radioactive isotope of Hydrogen, is an uncommon byproduct in nuclear reactors. If ingested or inhaled, or even absorbed trough your skin, it binds to your body in the form of heavy water and decays and does it's damage from there.

Vodka and alcohol in general increases the turnover rate of water in your body, which makes you piss and sweat out the now-radioactive water before it does too much damage.

It's the best I've got, it's at least scientific and adds up.
Problem is:
- Tritium isn't the only source of radiation in the Zone, in fact, it's probably not even really a major one. (although with all the anomalies around, I guess it could be)
- Vodka is a bad choice compared to a case of beer or a few mugs of coffee or tea, since you're not really adding any significant amounts of water to replace what you expel. Still, vodka is easy to carry by weight and one would rather be dehydrated than irradiated.

The fact your "hunger" increases in the game when you drink vodka makes me think this is what they're going for, the effects are just Game-ified up and exaggerated about 1000x.

Alright guys, I need some advice on Misery.

I'm trying to get into the Jupiter plant for the tools, files on the underground passage and the helicopter.

Shit is protected by two chimeras, a pseudogiant, a shitton of zombies and a poltergeist.
Running through isn't possible. The poltergeist psych abilities fry my brain in seconds but with a scientist suit I'm instant fodder for the chimeras.

I need to get through that shit somehow now.
I thought about throwing a bunch of explosive traps for the chimeras and pseudogiant and snipe them from far away. Then drug myself up and run into the poltergeist blasting him full with 12ga.

Shit would cost a lot of money to get through, so I wanted to hear some alternatives.

Well, in the end after the great suggestions I've received I decided to roll with 3 powder cans and 2 RPG-7 rigged warheads placed in a single line.

The chimera casually walked over it, shot the first can and the entire Jupiter plant went up in flames.

Through the smoke the Chimera jumped at me and killed me instantly.

I'm so sorry. It's a pain to kill just one chimera, the three of those together are going to be painful.

You don't want frag traps, you want blast traps. The powder can and RPG are fragment based, you want IEDs with big boom. IIRC the plastic explosive one and gas balloon are blast traps. Failing that chimeras can be killed in one shot with a direct hit from a 40mm grenade. It has to be direct though, because frag damage does nothing to either of them. Once the chimeras are dead the pseudogiant shouldn't be a huge problem. Stock up on F1 grenades, if you can hit it with the blast from one or two that should be enough to kill it.

For the poltergeist, get the closed cycle breathing helmet or similar and get the psionic resistance upgrade. It should be enough to keep you from taking psionic damage unless you are right next to the damn thing.

I actually like MISERY, but I've had two playthroughs ruined by the game engine killing critical characters offscreen.

you're missing the animation file

the hand animations for the SKS are in
gamedata\meshes\dynamics\weapons\wpn_ak74\wpn_hand_ak74_hud_animation.omf

seeing as you cant just slap Ao's omf in stcop, you'll have to merge the sks anims into stcop's .omf file

you'll have to take the hand animations for the SKS from AO's .omf and add it to STCOP's

and just like the textures, it has to go in the same directory.

nah, you need to pull the skl 's for the type63 hand animations from AO's wpn_hand_ak74_hud_animation.omf

and then convert stcop's
wpn_hand_ak74_hud_animation.omf
to an .skls

you can do this using the
ultimate_db-converter + anims-exporter

take note of the name of the animations the converter spits out.
they have to be just the animation names, otherwiae you will have to change the animation names in the weapon config file

then you need to use the same thing to convert any hand mesh to .object

so you can load the hands in the sdk, then load the SKLS + the individual skl's for the sks
so the are all loaded in the hand mesh, then export the anims into a new .omf
with the same name as the original

you can forget about the hand mesh from here, you dont need to edit or change anything with that. you just needed it so you could load the anims

then an edit tab will appear below motion reference
click append and load up your SKLS, then do the same for the skl's (you should be able to choose all the skl's at once )

there are a few things to note.

in the GUI for the anims exporter, in the first tab it asks what game this is for. you should have chose call of pripyat then tabbed over to the omf tab to extract + convert the skl's+skls

dunno if this is actually used or what. but thats how i've done it.

if you're sure the names of the hand animations you put in the new omf match what is in your config file.

not sure what else it could be.

care to take a screenshot of all the animations loaded in the sdk?

something else occured to me, once or twice before i've had an issue with even the SoC sdk where if an animation was currently playing when you export, the file gets fucked up.

doesnt always happen. but might want to try creating the .omf again. now that you know how to.

but if you click an animatino , click the "stop" tab then export all the anims

also i've uploaded my .omf for you to try. I know it works 100% with STCOP v5

this way you can see if it's possibly something else causing the problem. or just something fucky happened when you made yours.

Well, in the end I found a pretty easy way to get through that shit.

Behind the little garage where the tools for fine work are is a perfect place to hide from the chimeras as they are unable to jump there.

Took out the pseudogiant first then proceeded to spam grenades at the chimeras. 18 grenades in total and arround 90 5.45x39mm to take both of 'em out.
While I spammed nades at the chimeras, 12 zombies approached me followed from the Izoms thingies. All while the zombie weapons were thrown at me.

As I finally took them all out, 3 Burers approached me, nearly fried my brain thanks to their psycho bullshit. And just when I was to enter the Jupiter plant two Pyrogeist and one Poltergeist started their funny buisness.

I swear to god, I'll never go there again.

Brought this up in the last thread, does anyone else have an issue with Heavy Pockets functioning correctly in CoC?

I can't seem to get the traders to generate any of their "rare" goods.

Another anon noticed that his trade files had errors regarding item generation that also existed in my trade files. Specifically many items listed under [supplies_heavy_pockets] have a value less than one for a variable that determines how many chances the item has to spawn.

Correcting these values manually didn't solve my issue, even if the values were set to guarantee a spawn.

Any suggestions?

wpn_hand_mp5_hud_animation1.omf has 51 animations and
wpn_hand_mp5_hud_animation.omf has 59

so that's probably the one you want to use.

did you copy the contents of AO into your SDK gamedata?
i did.
I made a backup of my original sdk gamedata first though, in case i need a freshly installed version.

but i get errors even when i first installed it + the sdk patches.

one of them i think had to do with the sun settings in weathers or some shit

the other one is just an error about can't find mounted_weapons or something. all i know is none of them cause the SDK to crash.

the only other thing i did was the xrECoreB.dll
patch to make the sdk use smoothing groups and not distort the model when exporting models.

but that wouldn't have to to with animations, at least i dont think it would.

running everything as admin?

run anims exporter as admin
select call of pripyat in the common tab
click over to the omf tab
navigate to your .omf you want to pull animations from
select an output directory (desktop or whatever)
select .skl in the "out format" drop down menu
click all the anims you need to pull ( in the motion names list)
click execute
a bunch of cmd windows will pop up for each animation it pulls, but they will auto close

then do the same shit for the STCOP omf
except export the whole omf as an SKLS

then if it exported the skl 's as different names, you can edit the name of the expoterd anims files if needed, to match the original names

open arms in sdk
clear motion reference
click append
load SLKS
then do the same for the slk's

thats all i did. pretty much. except i clicked the anims to make sure it looked right, clicked "stop" on the animation i was playing
and exported to .omf

Absolutely spectacular. Also, why is Cutter so fucking good in AO3? Actually, why is 10mm Auto ammunition so poorly balanced? 10mm handguns and Cutter are probably the best weapons for their power/weight/cost ratios in the entirety of CoC. You can take out a lot of human enemies in 1-2 chest shots with 10mm Auto FMJ, and mutants go down super easily with the JHP rounds.

I'm not complaining, I love Real Fuckin' NATO and 10mm Auto.

Right now I'm working on porting the G43 from Misery (It's like the only model that's remotely worthy of saving). The anims for it are hidden inside the SVD anims from the misery, so I extracted them, renamed to G43_**** and added into the SVD anims file from STCoP, just the same way as SKS before. I've renamed all relevant files and lines in the configs. Same issue - Crash with empty stack trace on loading/starting new game.

you gotta download the CoM installer from the developer's own webpage, it's like 5.2gb torrent.

The translation is pretty good, some items are bugged but the only dialogue bugs is the medicbros in safe spots like Skadovsk and Yantar.

Instead of the usual options like:

2. get rid of my rads nig
3. bye nig

it's some bullshit like:

Depends on the situation, if you just want one to happen during a non-combat section where people are hanging out just have it for flavor, but if they are sheltered they are sheltered from it.

If you want it to be an active thing, have it happen after a set number of combat turns or whatever and if you can't take shelter in that time you get fucked, unless you have anabiotics.

Well the game wants me to keep track of time as the players move from area to area as they are looking for things like looking for bullets and food so I would make it a active thing maybe based on time. I could make the anabiotics something they can find or "research" given enough time. Around the start I will most likely give them enough time to find some place to hide safely or failing that I would push them into combat with something so they don't get stuck outside.

Yeah those aren't controllers those are poltergeists and I think there's only ever one in the iron forest. They should be easy to spot if you're paying attention. Figure out where it is and rush it with a shotgun or SMG.

frankly, I don't really mind it, because you can just drink water and it is very inexpensive. paying 700ru for enough water to cure mutant radiation is saving a lot of money over spending 2000ru for the equivalent nutrition you get from canned goods. I don't think it's realistic, but it's not unbalanced.

Maybe they gather rainwater as it falls? It rains pretty commonly, and it's going to be cleaner than anything on the ground. Truly clean water would be hard to import, and ground water might be hard to tap after decades of neglect.

There are some good repair kits that go to low percentages, but it's rare to find anything high enough to use them on. You might find okay condition weapons on higher-tier enemies, but it's very uncommon on bandits or loners etc. Try to keep things in as good condition as possible, technicians make you pay so much if it's less than 80-90%, so keep your gear around 90 with kits/technicians

Also, armors definitely feel better once upgraded. Once i got a fully upgraded exo i was a tank.

Playing as a merc is fun, and dead city is a good starting point.

I've also played as clear sky but it's hell, namely since you're poor and the swamps are mostly barren and irradiated. A good place to make a home but not that great as a starting point.

Also I keep losing all my saves because I kept dying in stupid ways after about a week in game. Stuff like snorks sneaking up on me while I was trading with dushman.

Clear Sky is good too and more challenging which is good as well.

I've played ecologist and I must say it was very easy and boring as fuck (tho I'm still playing them). After a bit of time, maybe like week or two, I settled alliance with almost every faction that was neutral towards me.
And after exploring yantar, cordon and garbage I managed to already get like ~200k RU which is nice but at the same time disappointing.
