People keeps saying BV was gutted.
But, did anyone even play it a high level last league?
Map clearing will be extremely similar as the damage was barley changed.
Also getting flask charges was never keyed to Master Surgeon, but also monster deaths.
Even if you do content with only one target, you will still be able to keep your dimaond/vinktar up at all times.

It is for guardians/shaper/atziri.
With pretty good gear (20-25ex) you could shitblast any boss T15 or below in one flask rotations, but T16/shaper would still require refilling flasks off crits.

Vinktar still refill at a rate of something like 8+ charges each second. If you just swap Dying Sun for an additional Vinktar in those fights, I feel you should be able to keep them up. Let reduced flask charges and Nature's Boon pull it's weight.

There's a global CD on flask recharge from crits though.
The only way you could conceivably keep them up 100% of the time in a fight is with overflowing.

I don't see that happening but what I don't understand is why they haven't taken the route of more specialized support gems yet. We have poison but that's about it. There could be a lot of different On Hit supports that don't need spells linked to them like triggers that still do damage or have a unique effect of their own. It would be a lot more interesting than all the %more multipliers we use for our supports.

Against a single target in 2.4 you are critting it up to 20 times a second with max stack BV. That produced 10 charges for all your flasks, keep the focus on Vinktar that only receives 2 of these charges.

In 2.5 you hit crit up to 5 times a second, this produces 5 charges divided among your flasks. However, if only your Vinktar is empty it will receive 5.

I don't get why keeping up Vinktar and Diamond will be any harder now. To me, they are what you would mostly be using against a single hefty boss. And in the scenario that there are more monsters they will be dying and filling your flasks anyway.

This is a huge simplification, but my general thought process.

it's good by melee standards, which is an important distinction.

couldn't offscreen, but had a large area, built-in more multiplier, and could benefit from things like conc effect/reduced duration/rapid decay for additional more multipliers while also being fairly easy to synergize with poison and bleed.

So what are meta, but not absurdly expensive, builds to play in 2.5?

I've only played as a Flame Totem Hierophant, Flicker Strike Trickster, and BV Pathfinder in the past. (Ironically, I chose BV Pathfinder far before GGG, ZiggyD, and other streamers promoted BV Pathfinder, as it was the least likely build from Prophecies to get shit on by the incoming nerfs.) Needless to say, I didn't have fun spending currency on softcore trying to gear out the original spec Life+MoM variant of BV Pathfinder. I didn't get Taste of Hate until a week before Essence ended...

Flameblast sounds good, and Totem buffs sounds excellent, but I'm not sure if it's worth it, after reading posts.

Golemancer sounds interesting, but ZiggyD already promoted it, so unique jewels will be fucking hell to buy.

Ancestral Warchief wasn't nerfed too much, but IIRC the strongest variants were Abyssus + Facebreaker unarmed variants, and seeing that Facebreakers were nerfed...?

Explosive Arrow sounds pretty good, but I'm not too keen on the whole idea of what appears to be utilizing weapon switch slot for a second +3 Fire Bow.

Raider looks fun, but I can't think of anything that would innately work very well with it with the Frenzies, besides as a catalyst for dead discharge memes or playing a Flicker again, in which case I'd have a hard time getting crit dagger gear.

Summoner still seems like it'll be a meme, and the reduced amount of SRS directly makes compensating for terrible minion AI a lot worse, even if the damage is good.

Another thing about changed BV. People should really mention this:
If you look at the new hit rate formula you can see that if will be strictly better at generating charges at 5 or less stacks. Because it will have the same number of charges generated, but the ability to funnel charges only to your empty flasks.
This rate gets gradually worse as you increase in stacks.

At 10 stacks it generates a maximum of 3.33 compared to old 5. But if you only have 3 flasks empty that would be about the same as before.

My understanding is that BV is perfectly tuned to Master Surgeon changes now, assuming at max stacks.

Hit rate is hitting all enemies in the BV AoE range at the same time (one hit, therefore one on hit trigger) every 600ms at 0 stacks, climbing 200% at 20 stacks. That would mean at 20 stacks BV "pulses" damage inside its AoE radius every 200ms, therefore inline with Master Surgeon.

Is this wrong?

I think I'd consider doing Elementalist first, as I haven't rolled a Witch yet, and I think it'd be easier to gear for CI (which I have yet to do an ES build yet, but would like to try what it's like to not be on the Life side of the fence, and besides nobody plays life-based Witch, IIRC).

No, no you are correct.
It just that the rate does no longer linearly scale with your number of stacks, as it did before.
Just look how 1 stack hits 1 times a second before, and gives 1*0.1*5 = 0.5 maxium charges for 5 flasks.
Now, 1 stack hits 1.66 times a second and gives 100% 1.66 charges.
Assuming all hits are crits to make it easier to show.

I want to explore breach as a thing and the amount of exclusive uniques in this league is also attractive but I find the builds that lets me see all that stuff are lame.

It probably doesn't if the goal is Shaper. You usually start out as physical with the additional elemental stuff (Hatred, Herald of Ash, Added Fire, and WED), which can T15s and farm Uber Lab.

To maximize clear speed you want to get all packs down to insta-clear status meaning the biggest threats to your speed are resist packs, and it takes some investment and setup to get their resists below 0%. Inquisitor gets to spend all those resources you use on penetration and resistance reduction to instead just maximize crit chance and crit multi.

There is just endless diversity. You can run any skill you want, and any skill you want can be absolutely great. Do you want a green explosion? You got it, no problem! This build can run anything. It is absolutely fantastic, strong, and if you want to just have fun and test skills out, and see what your combination can find, you can do it.

Since you have so much strength in this build. Iron Will... gives you so much power. So much power. So, you guys are wondering: "What else can this build do?" Well guys, I'm gonna show you. Purity of fire. We're gonna put Purity of Fire in. Now, with Purity of Fire, we are gonna have a resistance of 81%. Not bad, not bad. We're not gonna switch our boots over to... Righteous Fire, that's right. Righteous Fire. Right now we don't have any flasks on but we have, guess what... Life Leech. We have Life Leech passively just from the Marauder Tree. So since we leech our life, now we can run Righteous Fire, and now we have a ton of DPS, because not only are we now leeching life so we have Righteous Fire, and we have a huge AoE explosion of Magma Orb. And this is absolutely awesome, especially when we increase the AoE of effect with the new flasks, it is very, very cool. So check this out guys: Watch the havoc.

Let's say if you guys don't wanna use... let's say if you guys don't want to use... Magma Orb. Let's say you want to use Fireball. Sure! This build you can use Fireball, you can use anything you want, you don't have to use... just because I'm using something doesn't mean you have to use it. I've been testing out Blade Flurry w/ conc effect + WED + FA + Herald of Ice, using a magic sword and the aoe mace to simulate how it is for leveling.

Lacerate is way safer and clears a bit faster depending how big you group them before clearing. BF is just better for bosses/rares. Once you get increased AoE it's actually comfortable to use.

What are people leveling with on Shadow before getting BF?
I tried Shrapnel Shot and Burning Arrow until you get BV yesterday. IMO BV feels really shitty on those low levels and might even be worse with the changes.
Maybe go Frost Blades until BF? Or stay with Shrapnel/Burning?
