The way I see it, while BV maximum damage at 20 stacks is higher than before, it hits 4 times less frequently, which makes building up pcharges much more of a pain

With a dagger that has 40% global crit implicit and 35% non global explicit, 6 power charges and the ascendancy stuff you get 83% crit.

You can't really use amulet slots since you need voidheart, hinekoras, valyrium.

How do you get the missing 12% for the cap? Do you run blasphemy assassins mark or something?

nothing special in yellows either, there was this reflect boss in racecourse but they nerfed it so now it's just a glorified reflect rare, canyon has the old village ruin chicken and dog but too low level to be actually dangerous, however you need to keep your distance for atoll and temple bosses which both have a one-shot attack with a long wind-up

t11: nothing special, excavation is the hardest but same as before

t12: ivory temple has a perandus boss, can potentially be rippy if you roll stupid mods, otherwise fairly straightforward

plateau has double totem boss, one enrages when the other dies, can be rippy, same cold totem boss as in atoll with its one-shot ice nova

shipyard has a lightning warbands boss, nothing special but buffed in 2.5 apparently

t13: this is where it starts to get a bit harder
lair rigwald is kinda hard if you don't have good phys mitigation
plaza goddess same as before, need mobility or good sustain
sulphur wastes has cold warbands leader, don't roll shit mods on this or you might get surprised

There's someone named Ghudda that did this really elaborate, excel spreadsheet evaluation of the values of every ascendancy and passive node and the value of every possible thing an item can roll in each slot, and so on. It's pretty crazy, and he has a cartoonish voice, so people make fun of it, but the basic ideas create a framework for comparing things like that to what you can get in other classes. It's probably worth at least looking over, if you want to understand the answers to questions like that beyond people just spitting meme answers at you that they don't understand the underlying reasoning for at all.

20% increased AoE could even be used on something like curses or whatnot. It's not about how good the talent itself is. Heirophant has a lot of crazy good passive notables, the MoM and mana ---> ES passives are pretty good, even ignoring the fact that ES and MoM don't mix. The issue is that the travel nodes to GET to those high value notables are fucking atrocious whereas other classes get really fucking good travel nodes.

That and it has to directly compete with fucking Fagquisitor so yeah

Hierophant's pseudo 5L gloves: utility. 20% AoE is nice, but nothing significative enough to matter. If you use it for utility (curses, OoS), it's just QoL that doesn't fundamentally change your playstyle. It can be transformed as a pseudo 6L for Wyrmsign, or essence gloves, but you still top out at 5L effectiveness damage wise.

Hierophant's pseudo 5L boots: utility, and unpractical. If you want leech, it needs to be either global or applied by your 6L, using an extra 4L for it is not only inefficient, it's a waste of sockets. You could automate it with a Cast when X setup but then it becomes unreliable and not what you want from leech.

Hierophant's pseudo 5L helmet: offense and the most interesting one since you can turn it into an offensive pseudo 6L with essences. However this limits you to elemental damage, something Hierophant is undeniably worse at than Inquisitor or Elementalist. But wait you still got your 6L in your chest so it should be better right? Except you can't use both at once, so you fall in the same pitfall of efficiency if you try to turn one into automation with a totem.

There's no real way to make this work that I'm aware of, unless you rely on your pseudo 6L helmet for defense and just use Kaom or a random chest without caring about the sockets there, but that's a budget option with no end game scaling.

You can pretty easily make like ~250 or so exalts from selling lab stuff in the first couple weeks and afford at least a mid priced whatever you want to try. It works really well, and lab is fun to play, at least for a bit. By the time you get tired of it, you'll have enough to move on to whatever.

Run RF with Essence Drain. Glorious MORE multiplier, your damage over time nodes will work on RF and ED, and if you run an ES version you can even go low life for even MORE modifiers.

Did it last league, had 45k dot on ED. I think finding Delirium essences this time will be harder, considering essences are rarer, but at the same time they nerfed it a bit and most people are interested in running BF, so I'd say you could expect Delirium essences going for 20-30c after a while.

Although I'm a tanky motherfucker and lab wont be a problem, the clear speed is attrocious and i'll have to map a fair bit to get my trials done. I'm sitting at like 40m an hour on t8-10s.

I prefer slayer but they both work well. You pick jugg if you want a more consistent regen/higher mitigation instead of having to manage your leech before going through traps.

I went with Trickster for flat 250 ES (The Vertex is an amazing item with Trickster) and Damage Over Time increases/increased recovery when you kill something with DoT (works wonders with RF).

Plus, there is a great life regen wheel next to Shadow which also features Damage Over Time. Shadow/Trickster is great for doing an ES RF character.

Sorry friend, I agree with your statement that simply stacking ES is boring but sadly, Armour provides too little while being too costly to invest into.

All the investment you make in a character to bring in 10k armour could be used to stack life/ES instead, and it will be better 9 out of 10 times. On the rare occasions that armour is helpful, you can just pop a granite.

And I find it sad that armour sucks because I like to stack several layers of defense on my characters. You're way better finding a Fortify source, applying Enfeeble somehow, having %block and endurance charges instaed. And doing so is easier and cheaper than stacking anything above 8k armour.

If you're freezing monsters consistently, you don't belong in that map as in you are seriously overgeared for that level of content. So no trash is ever going to threaten you, armour, evasion, or ES amounts notwithstanding. Then you have maps with cold resistant monsters, map with EE, maps with monsters resistant or immune to freeze. And in those situations, armour and evasion will be better than just pure ES. The ES+VP sponge playstyle is extremely strong but it has its weaknesses too. Notably when you have nothing to leech anymore but you still got 20k incoming damage to your face. Most CI builds have 0 armour, who are we kidding, the whole point is to stack so much ES that you effectively get damage reduction compared to life (15k ES with zero mitigation is the same as 7.5k life with 50% mitigation). Ultimately just having 15-20k ES is the better solution for everything, it's just bruteforcing your way through a problem that is easily solved if you stack other defenses.

Flasks are a bandaid defense, especially for builds that are not Pathfinder, and I reckon the new reduced flask charges map mod is going to hit CI builds much harder than life ones.

The nodes are slightly better, with the 10% onslaught being good if you cant fit a Silver Flask. There is another group of leech rate nodes that you can pick up as Slayer if you're using an axe as well.

Axes generally higher top-end damage, with Causes Bleeding on Hit being craftable as well. 100% chance to hit is one half of the legacy Voidheart damage puzzle. I'm actually considering pathfinder for EQ as a starter this league for FREE poison on hit. Saves you from having to go Cospri's Will for the 100%.

Voidheart is going to be expensive with the BF bandwagoning, so getting that to start with would be shitty as well.

There are no good claws clusters. Compare crit scaling with claws and daggers in the tree, there's no comparison. Daggers have the excellent Adder's Touch for poison on hit, claws get... Claws of the Magpie. It's not going to work out until you get Scourge which is the only good claw and that's only because of decent pdps, as and the 70% generic damage double dipping on poison.
