Well yeah, C.Sword trades away early game dudes for late game fatties, but the deck for the most part still centers around parking on wards.
And yes, Storm Haven is flexible because by nature of it being a midrange deck it can go ham and smash people in the face or it can actually fight for board control and the deck can be adjusted accordingly. It's not nearly as one-dimensional as people claim it is, although it is pretty simple enough to learn overall.

You can but you're running dangerously close to cutting off your own balls. Just use whatever you have, there are a lot of substitutes that can serve pretty well. Ancient Alchemist is just one of the most flexible golem generators, that 4-cost sigil that creates a golem is alright, along with Twin Guardians. I still only have a single Juno that does mad work whenever it comes out, and I rarely saw my single pascale.

I wish you could set certain leaders to certain decks. I don't like playing as Garuda on Elana, or Seraph. He is too majestic and proud to play those decks, and Eris seems to fit that motif much better. Garuda is much more suited for Storm, and maybe Satan, though either fits Satan IMO since you eventually punch their shit in with big dudes.
Same goes with Vampy/Vania. She is a much better fit for aggro being so energetic, where I think Urias fits better as the leader for control blood being so cool and laid back.]

Ramping against DS is pretty easy since it's not like you have anything else to do. They'll have to use spells on Aiela if they want to use those spells that target followers and you don't lose tempo by ramping with Oracle. Gaining 4 PP early is pretty fast too if you do stuff like Oracle, Aiela, and then use Urd if she's left on the board.

Actually you're kinda right right, and I may be a bit of a cardgame novice, but I see a crucial difference in shadowverse: Variance is designed to be worked around, rather than a means to scratch a 'win the game' lottery ticket.
Consider Elf Child May; early game she's a nice tempo play against 1 defense drops, but late game her ability is only very useful in concert with other cards or with recursion. In fact, most early game random targeting damage comes from Forestcraft; This variance is very good against weenies (which are culled and reduce available targets) or single targets, but is less useful against big targets, storm or rush followers and non-follower strategies.
Compare it to other craft's removal and wipe strategies and you'll see they're quite different. With a hand full of exceptions, the random element is a unique weakness to forestcraft.
Lord of the Flies is, in fact, unique in that it summons one of 3 followers, but the 3 followers all achieve similar levels of strength and results. Similarly Prince of Darkness gives you a "toolbox" approach without being perfectly reliable.
These all contribute greatly to keeping a handle on the game where you're placing bets and trying to control outcomes instead of just cutting loose and hoping for the best. Odds are that if you have to bank on a specific result from Lord of the Flies, for example, you weren't going to win that match anyways.

The random elements are also almost entirely in Forest. The idea is that fairies are mischievous and tricksters and all that so the RNG is supposed to reflect that. Hell one of the RNG cards is even called Pixie Mischief.
But yes you're right in that it's much less bad in this game because it's way easier to control. Mostly because random damage pings can't go face.

Reading this always makes a little salty. Since I planned to play shadowcraft, and I knew that shadowcraft was going to be the one for me, because 2dqt loli with earbuns and spooky skeletons.
However, I've gotten mostly haven cards as my competitive cards above silver rarity from my packs.

yeah, you should play the story mode just to be acquanted with the classes. also, blood is really hard t2. i'd avoid it. dragon is pretty simple though. if you can hold off the opponent's aggro, you naturally have a better late game

Just give Dragon decent card draw and the class is fine. I'm running Ramp Dragon at A2 and it's pretty painful seeing you're 5 cards behind the Haven, just because they drew their ridiculous 1 mana +1 card advantage.
