It's a really damn good game with shit loads of content. You'll probably get your money's worth out of it.

It's a shit time to get into it though. Community's dead, so most of the endgame content (3 out of 4 raids) are not being played anymore, 2 of those raids are completely now completely obsolete anyways.
And even the newest raid is barely being played.
Then there's also the fact that, as a new player you'll preferrably run the Normal mode Raids first before going into Hard mode. But nobody plays Normal, ever.
And PvP is brutal. Only the most tryhard memelords are still playing, if you go in as a new player with shit gear you'll get fucken dec'd mate.

For add clear it just seems like the raid auto rifle or shit any scout with explosive/firefly does the job just as well without using an exotic slot.

On average it does more damage than the other primaries, but by 50-100k depending on how many clusters land on a boss, so people tend to opt out purely because the dark drinker has more utility, it can one-shot captains and rape Aksis.

If the cluster bombs were triggered on every headshot kill, and at least once per magazine from damage buildup, it would have more utility, but the ten second cooldown on the clusters really hampers its potential, making it just get overshadowed by more exotic... uh... exotics.

The biggest problem is that it is build around the "Deals bonus damage to fallen" perk, its perk provides it with a higher damage bonus than the raid weapons, so to compensate for that its overall base damage is lower, meaning its pure garbage against anything that isn't fallen.

In PVE its good against the fallen and nothing else, its an exotic purely on the uniqueness of the design and not much else.
In PVP the clusters can be a mild annoyance at best, like a mosquito.

Basically its good but there are plenty loadouts which don't include it that are just better overall.

Considering a lot of them come from purchases and special live events (Like E3 and TGS) I am confident they will.

That being said, I do have my doubts about shaders, if they do it's gonna be a bigger problem, because that would mean the incredibly flawed shader system hasn't been revamped. Honestly, you look at it and all teh sahders we got in Y1 were it, almost all the subsequent shaders over the past year+ have been nothing more than slight saturation variants of existing shaders. I mean hell, Eva levante is selling a slightly more desaturated version of Chatterwhite, the Bone Marrow is a slightly darker version of Themisto, Old Guard is just Hanged Man with tiger stripes, Suros Minimalist is just Nefertiti AK. NM Wrath set is a sparkly version of Celopatra AK. Most of the SRL shaders are more saturated or slightly glowing version of strike shaders, one of the new IB shaders is just the default shader from TTK IB armor. The list goes on.

Bungie can keep doing these little infusions but its painfully obvious to anyone willing to pay attention, every time they do it, the spike of returning/incoming players is lower, and lasts a smaller amount of time, D2 is more than just a reboot, its a fresh start for Bungie, because if they fuck it up, and they continue with this trend, all D2 will be is just another spike that slightly shorter and slightly smaller than the current one.

They need a new engine, one that allows for larger spaces, more character, and more interactions, but its more than just engine restriction, they need a more complex/interesting level design philosophy, patrols are too fucking plain, there's no verticality, no exploration, nothing to draw the player, once you run through an area once you'll just b-line through everything because there's nothing to play around with, the areas are all too sterile and they need to set up an infrastructure that will let them rapidly turn out content.

Emblems Should have had three components: Crest, Background, and Frame. and let you freely combine them however you want.

Emblems should have had four components: Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, and a sub-component for each one of them, Pattern.

This isn't even so far fetched (The shader part at least) Because that's how they build them in-engine, they pick a color for each of the three slots then they pick a pattern for each slot, that's why so many colors and patterns are recycled between shaders, its easier to reuse old assets than add new ones.

Either way, he's right. The intent of the item was to have people returning to Destiny able to get back into it much quicker than if they had come back to underleveled characters.
