It is easier to get an S on a champion that is played by many people (because it means the average is lower) than a champion that is played by a few players, because these tend to be played by specialists/mains who set the bar way higher.

Ranks and mastery of a champion add nothing to the gameplay, it's just a little gimmick riot added to raise the ego of the players.

As far as "one or two damage items into full tank" lee sin is one of the worst. His entire utility late game is based on that one good kick. He's worthless other. Whereas yorick, irel, nasus, etc. are fine with one damage item. I think lee sin is really good in this mode with his mobility, but against certain champs he can't do anything.
