Any company interested in creating such a thing will look for existing examples. They will find PS1 and PS2 and a very small selection of other games that died even faster, run the figures and determine that it is not financially viable.

A small group who may not care so much about the finances aspect of it cannot afford to maintain such a game so it can't happen that way.

The window of opportunity passed for this style of game unfortunately, multiplayer games are REDUCING in players per world/shard/server/whatever these days.

They made the LSW assault rifle tier, but nerfed it so now it's more comparable to the SVA if anything. Both are decent but don't stand out as much.

All the medkit nerf truly hurts is bads and 2-3kd heavies. Any actually competent player is just going to play a little bit more passively or be smarter about their positioning.

Now what they need to do is nerf aircraft weaponry; AA and AV weapons shouldn't be so effective against infantry so that ESFs actually have to pick a fucking role and we'll be starting to get somewhere.

The medkit meta has been upholding bad practices in game design.

Resto kits always should have been long duration low effect heals, just a gradual restoration effect over 20 seconds or so. Not something that will keep you actively alive under heavy fire but something that assists in maintaining pressure.

Instead of that though they're just useless pieces of shit with a short duration AND a small effect. they should cost 1 fucking nanite for their relative effect.

I don't know what these fuck-turnips are on about, the railjack is fucking devastating in counter-sniping utility but works perfectly well as a regular sniper for other purposes too.

You get used to the pre-shot charge pretty quickly and can then appreciate the high muzzle velocity, neat bullet trail and firing effects and the sweet reload animation.

Downsides are the loud and distinctive noise it makes, the very obvious and visible tracer that points directly to you and the large radar reveal radius if you use it without silencer.

The team have always maintained that hundreds of new people try out the game every day, despite the no advertising and the fact that it's buried somewhere in the steam f2p catalog; the only problem is, that none of them stay because ps2 is a game that requires a massive commitment to get good at it.

There is basically nothing they can do to change that either with the resources they have. They could nerf heavies, boltshitters, a2g, prowlers etc... basically remove all of the 'cheese' from the game to make it a more level playing field for everyone, and yet it still wouldn't stop new players from getting rekt the moment they log in or guide them to a place where they can take part in a enjoyable fight quickly. (since even experienced players can have a job finding fun fights)

Contrast that with games like overwatch where t. bad can click quick-play and be shoved into a game with 11 other t. bads in under a minute. It would take a massive financial investment to make planetside into a game that casuals would spend money on.

The phoenix is a weapon that REQUIRES 3+ people all conspiring to use it at the same time.

You will only ever get kills with the phoenix on targets that have already been damaged by someone else with something else. Two phoenix users cannot out-damage the repair of a single engineer, except in extreme cases like hitting the rear armor of a tank.

If you're a single phoenix user, you still cannot out-damage the repair rate of a single engineer - even hitting the tank's rear armor.

It is a weapon balanced around the idea of an entire squad using it at once, rather than 1 or 2 guys. Which means it's underpowered as fuck and nobody uses it, which also makes it even more underpowered as fuck because it's designed around lots of people using it. Whoever made the thing was a fucking moron.

About the only good thing about the phoenix right now is that fagriders can't jockey out of the way so you can apply reliable dps on them at long range while the dumbfire rockets can't.

Also the rockets are so fucking slow that shit can almost outrun them, and they're piss-easy to shoot out of the sky. You couldn't make this crap overpowered even if they one-shot infantry again. (And this was literally only an issue for boltbabbies to begin with desu)

The decimator does 1 shot them, but if you're new, it's a lot of certs to spend on something with such niche benefit. Otherwise, get the hawk. With lolpods, you can still kill them with flak/locks if they mismanage fuel, and you can (until Werl changes it :-DDD) medkit tank.

I bought an entire ~2 years old A tier game along with all DLC, for less than half what one of the anniversary packages costs. An anniversary package that offers a laughable camo, a 6 month meme boost that only functions on one character, and a few bad reskin guns.

It's absurd. I mean, I bought one of the anniversary bundles when I was new, but at least back then the boost worked on all factions. No idea why anyone above BR~70 would buy one nowadays.

Most of their pricing is like that though. I'd have probably paid a fair but more into this game, if it wasn't $200 per weapon or whatever they're trying to hawk them at now.
