altough I still can't distinguish between "min-max" territory and "just enough to do content" terrirtory.
I'd guess skillsets, passives and CP points allocation from guides it's the latter while races and specific crafted gear with specific traits it's the former
I wouldn't mind doing something different from the usual weapon combination (like using a two handed weapon which seems to be absent from any current meta build of any class) but I know that would just throw my dps out of the window

I had a similar experience while playing with frineds; I was doing the /drink animation where you hold up a bottle, and one friend says "hey hold that up again I'll do a trick" and shoots an arrow at the bottle. of course it goes right through and murders some offscreen NPC, so I get to watch him chased and beaten by the guards up a bridge, which he had to jump off and swim to escape, yelling over the mic all the while. just sitting in town and watching people idly spamming spells or swinging swords get wrecked is always a treat.

I think what drew me in though was Cyrodiil way back in the beta. It's just so fucking big, I think it's actually bigger than Oblivion was, and it feels like a real place with rolling hills and fields, rather than all crammed together. the pvp was great too. getting ambushed while picking flowers, sneaking into enemy held Cheydinhal and dueling another player on the bridge, and never just getting one-shot, always having a chance.

Would being a caster and just sitting back shooting spells into large crowds and watching people die be a fun way to play this game? thats what i like to do but idk if it would work in this game.

I think what hooked me wasn't any experience in particular but the general feel of the game, the way the combat is better than pretty much any other TES, the "comfy" feeling of it (as much of a meme as comfy is), being able to wander the world as an adventurer, seeing other adventurers and not really being the chosen one (outside of ignorable main story nonsense), etc.

I was sitting on a beach in Stonefalls watching the lava flow into the ocean and listening to distant eruptions when I subbed.

Hey guys, my tank is about level 24 or so. I've been reading up on skill set ups and guides to help my character and I find that I can tank most dungeons without much issue.

Sometimes though, random dungeon finder puts me with players who are like cp 400+, and I notice that I feel extremely squishy tanking. This also tends to be dungeons that seem a lot harder like the DLC dungeons or that imperial prison thing.

Is this just a result of my character not able to properly scale up? Should I just try to power level as much as I can and worry about tanking later?

yes, but there are a number of optional quests (like the dreugh invasion in stormhaven that I completely missed until I took I route I haven't before) that result in a pacified area that is easier to traverse if you need to go that way again.

One night very late, when the crowds had thinned, I went out exploring. It was a beautiful night in Stonefalls, the moons were out, off in the distance a sorc was dropping lightning on something. I got immersed. That's when I decided to buy. Never regretted it.

What's up with this main quest stuff? The prophet tells me to go to the harborage, I do some quest for him, he tells me to fuck off for now, I visit some wayshrine and he immediately asks me to come back to the harborage.

when he appears is based on your level so if your level is high enough when you complete one quest, he just appears again instantly and offers the next. they should really increase the level checks for MQ, considering how easy it is to "overlevel" it. not that it's much of a problem desu

you should still complete your faction's main questline before Sancre Tor, otherwise you get continuity errors (character dies at the end, then he's back again in a quest you put off) or not knowing the npcs that act like they know you.

I had a similar experience. Played as the exact opposite kind of character i wanted to when it came out so I wasn't that annoyed about the wipe; ended up playing female bow DK bosmer running around through auridon.

He said he's farming fighter's guild XP. Is this the best way? I googled the mobs he was farming and apparently they used to give XP and people exploited with them and got banned.

They need to fix the fucking LFG system and rebalance the normal dungeons so badly.

The experience is ruined for new players because cp561s speedrun normals for pledges/armor/whatever, and so many of the '2' dungeons are impossible for the levels they're available at (or more importantly, the level of understanding of game mechanics you'd have at those levels). Then get the business for trying to play the game the way the game has told them to play it. Bullshit.

DPS check on Imiril in BCII, completely ridiculous for a group of level 10s
Healer check on Engine guardian in DCII. Literally no chance at level 20, not even to use the levers.

They need to segregate the LFG; as soon as you can get undaunted pledges you have access to normal 'II' dungeons (and they get a buff to be more in-line, as you said fungal II is real easy), AND you can no longer be paired with with sub-45s in the group finder.
Means low levels get to experience the dungeons as intended (honestly I'd remove the LFG until 45 so low levels could actually use zone like you used to have to, but the community wouldn't have that), but you could also get a high level to run you through if you're a pansy.
cp should also be disable for sub-45 LFG

You'll get a lot of skill points later on. Hell, I have 3 that I don't know what to do with them. You'll outlevel everything pretty fast so don't worry about it, spend your points on combat skill if you already have your bars filled with combat skills then you could start spending it more on crafting.

Crafting is useful at low levels but not that much, it shines at cap though.

Also: don't spend skill points on the fucking Keen Eye skills, they're useless except maybe for the alchemy one but not that much just pay attention and you'll be fine

What's the general consensus for crafted sets?

Does anyone know what happens to Twice-Born Star if the full set is compromised? Example, 3 pieces + 1H&S with 2H on offbar.

When I switch weapons does it completely forget about the secondary mundus choice upon return, or does it remember them reliably, or remember the two stones randomly?

Could be handy to have a stat recovery mundus as the secondary for the build I want to do, but I don't really want to shell out all that gold on a crafter if it's not going to work.

I have lots of basic weapons and armor that I found here and there, they sell for 0 gold and give me nothing for deconstructing.

What should I do with them?

I'm leveling my first character, a Bosmer Nightblade, currently lvl 9. I cant say I'm really struggling with quests but its not that easy either, especially when there is a elite mob or a bigger pack like 3+.

I see most people are running some flashy classes like Templars, Sorcerers and absolutely obliterating everything in seconds.

Are Stamina Nightblades any good now? For solo content and end game? Should I reroll to something better for a first character?

I rolled a Nightblade because I liked beaing a sneaky little bee in TES games but apparently every class can do basic sneaking and thief stuff. I used a bow but since bows on low levels are absolute shit i switched to dual wield and its a bit better but still I'm fighting a pack of mobs, almost dead, barely alive thanks to that life steal spell and then a Templar walks by pulls a light spear out of his ass and basically one shots everything.

Are Templars and Sorcerers any good on higher levels? What is the best class to solo content?

explain why degeneration is a bad skill and why it is useless, from what i can tell, i can make a pretty effective build with it

They're fine. You just don't come with huge AoEs, good sustain or nigh on immortality like the other three - you have to rely on your weapon skills a LOT more than class skills, especially until you can get stuff like Siphoning Strikes. You'll also want to go into PvP and get up to Rank 6 in Assault so you can get Resolving Vigor. If you can stand it, go in further and get Caltrops. Vigor is an amazing stamina-based heal and Caltrops is a massive long duration AoE.

A short-term solution that'll keep you in PvE is to pick up a 2H weapon. 2H weapons are inferior DPS for DW but they can give you some good sustain through skills like Momentum (a heal over time + weapon damage) and Brawler's Strike, a morph that makes one of your earlier skills give you a damage shield that scales with the number of enemies you hit, which is -really- good against a big pack.

They're both pretty good on later levels. Sorceror is the best for soloing overall, IMO. You throw on Crit Surge and Hurricane and leap into a pack of mobs and it'll be pretty hard for you to die unless you get hit with a bunch of heavy attacks or something right after each other. My sorc only really ever dies to shit like World Bosses.

I've been thinking about putting some points into 2H to check it out but was a bit afraid to waste points. Switching from Bow to dual wield was a good idea because now at least I dont want to kill myself trying to defeat a mudcrab by shooting him 20 times. I have some loose points and put them into 2h. As for PvP I still have a while before I get to a point when I can participate, just trying to do a normal progression since its my first character.

if you can stomach being blue-grey and a bit shorter instead of green or yellow, Dark Elf would be a good choice.

Second or third best magicka sorcerer DPS because 9% max magicka and 2/7% extra lightning/fire damage respectively, plus 6% extra stamina if you want to go melee. For reference, Orcs get 6% extra stam and health, with extra healing, stronger melee attacks and running faster. Wouldn't be losing out on much

But if you like high elves, go for it.

Thanks for the Dunmer tip I'll look into them when making a Sorc. It's not that I really like elves but that I already started the AD questline and I know what to do up to the point I got my NB so I could breeze through the starting area and not lose track of the story.

I've tanked and healed and I find healing to be more challenging especially if your group members aren't really good.
You have to keep your eye on all of your group members, the boss mechanics, red zones and keep yourself out of any combat situation that would distract you from your healing duties or incapacitate you. If you get aggro you either run or fight and fighting requires concentration.

Templars can do great damage but are kind of boring. Not 'blow your brains out-holy priest boring' but there's a big emphasis on only a handful of skills and it can get a bit repetitive. That said, it only gets boring if you follow a top-tier dps rotation; just leveling normally as a templar is still good fun, and as a magplar you can comfortably heal or dps if you want to do dungeons.

My dunmer magplar was the first to level 50 and I had good fun. Speccing further into healing boosts damage, so there's no risk of being like a resto druid (only wow healer i played) where you couldn't die but couldn't kill anything either.

You won't get kicked out of a group if you're doing good damage, and all classes/spec have that potential even if one is the FotM.
Only people that will ever get kicked are non-templar healers and non-DK tanks; healer is regrettably non-negotiable for endgame atm but endgame tanks are a little more flexible, occasionally an NB sap tank shows up and does a good job.

PvE and PvP are two VERY different things. Stamina dominates PvP in the current meta, that's true.. Magicka is still the best in PvE, and always has been.

Just because some guy on YT is able to do insane DPS on a stamina character in his top-tier raid guild where every single member is a min/maxer who has optimised his build to synergise with every other member and perform the absolute best he can doesn't mean that stamina is better than magicka. But many people mistakenly take it to mean that.

Stamina may have more single-target dps potential in PvE than magicka has, but rarely a fight is only with a single target. And magicka not only has much better AoEs, but also much better sustainability and survivability.

Take what you read on forums with a grain or a tablespoon of salt.

Just go with magsorc if you liked it. It's mostly always been in a decent spot PvE-wise.

And no matter what most people say, PvP is still mostly about skill, it just takes more skill to beat bad players than it used to, because ZOS keeps making procsets and stamina buffs rain, and bad players flock to easymode.

But I've seen great magsorcs 1vX stambads and actually win. If you're good enough sorc is still good for PvP.

I'm playing magsorc more and more lately, and sure, it's harder, but it's also rewarding when you get rage whispers form viper/veli NB calling you a cheater.

Most people sit in big cities or do end game content there is quite a lot of people leveling now in Auridon EU but most people afk in Dalaran.

Either are good. Altmer will give you a bit more damage, but Bretons have more spell resist which will be useful if you go vampire, and in PvP

You can heal just fine, classes aren't bound to speficic roles, any class can do anything but some have some nice perks for each role, Templars are ez mode healers, Sorcerers are nice PvE dps, Dragonknights are ez mode tanks and Nightblades are better PvP gankers.

Ok guys, I have a high elf templar and argonian templar. They are both level 8 and I'm trying to decide which one to keep playing on as a healer. A lot of teso relies on pre-morrowind lore. Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire and Redguard. Some people just can't handle that because muh kirkbride.

The only real lore issue with teso is the alliances. Personally I think the Covenant should have been Bretons, Nords and Redguard . The Dominion is as it always was and the Pact shouldn't even be a thing. I'd have the Imperial Remnant as the third side made up of any race. Orcs should be a mercenary race with no side allegiances. The Dunmer and Argonians shouldn't be officially involved but have their own "underground railroad" type dlc.
