It's two ways they fuck up games. The first is that there are just so many of them. The 2nd is that with them comes a mass of gold farmers/sellers.
When nost started getting big, some popular chinese streamers started playing it, then the huge zerg happened and continued to happen. There are always some chinese gold sellers anywhere with a decent population, but most of their cash is made from other chinese (by far), so when a huge chinese population plays it means a LOT more gold farmers.
Gold farming being rampant should be obvious in how it hurts a server, if anyone had nost auction house data over its lifetime you could see obvious trends but I don't have anything to offer as far as evidence there. It should be obvious to anyone who played, however.
Along with tons of gold farmers you also have characters being booster to re-sell as well as pvp characters being ranked to re-sell.

I think this is bait, but in chinese games RMT is very common place and accepted. It's considered "lame" or "nerdy" to not buy gold, as why waste time when you can afford it with real money? If you talked to normal chinese players on nost, many of them wouldn't even know that buying/selling gold was against the server rules. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to them.
Along with the issues that rampant RMT brings, since there are so many chinese playing, they have no reason or incentive to work with or communicate with non-chinese players. They're essentially a third faction in a lot of ways.

I got it because I ove challenging content and really enjoy doing 5 mans and raids.

It was meant to be a stepping stone to MC gear, but it was just fucking incredibly tough to get.

Some servers had shit populations, some servers just had fucking horrible players that could not coordinate 40 people to play together for hours together.

It was meant to fill that gap, the most challenging 5 man gear to get. A way to take your BiS before raiding gear up a notch if you needed a boost.

So fucking few people actually had this gear.

I valued mine more than my T2 gear. But then again my guild never fully cleared AQ40 or NAXX.

What confuses me most about the lore are how the Horde is now magically as tough as the Alliance.

Pre-Cata before they fucked up the lore particularly badly, everyone accepted the fact that the Alliance was way fucking stronger than the Horde. Hell the humans alone outnumbered the entire fucking faction. After that if you added dwarve and then night elves it wasn't even a content. Orcs made up for 80% of the Horde, followed by UD then Tauren and then trolls.

They never explained how the Horde suddenly gained a massive fucking population boost and somehow is the Alliance's equal. I love the Horde as much as the next PvP focused asshole but they are outnumbered as fuck.

Just checked the population, it's actually still the same I guess they are ignoring this plot hole too. It's literally 800,000 to <300,000. How the fuck are they equal in retail lore?

Doomguard is one locks rarely get. I rember its ability was broken on private servers. Also protip: you might be able to enslave some boss demons, not sure about nost. Its a secret to everybody.

The rogue part is just 100% incorrect.

For mages though, if you wanna top meters you need to have good movement for safe AOE, you need to know when to throw in instants to maximize dps, mana managing takes some practice too.
Basically you need a fair amount of knowledge about the game to play mage well.
It's pretty easy, but it's not as easy as Warlocks for instance, who throw 1 dot and then spam shadowbolt on every single encounter in the game.

My problem with vanilla WoW:

1) Healers are refused access to DPS gear

2) Many guilds use a "loot council" system where loot is distributed completely arbitrarily based off who sucks the most guild-leader cock

I played a disc/holy priest fully spec'd for PVP/dps. I went to raids as a healer (properly spec'd disc/holy priest does amazing DPS, just as good as mage/rogue, the ONLY reason it's not viable for raid dps is because they run out of mana too fast). There's not a single guild that allows healers to get fair rolls on DPS gear.

That automatically makes me have no motivation to play the game anymore, I quit raiding and just did (world) PVP with the best dungeon gear, I already hate dealing with the people in guilds.

I really wish healers would collectively all refuse to heal until they get equal rights to roll on DPS gear, but these private servers are so over-populated and there's no end to cucked healers.

TBC was good, it was a continuation of vanilla, only negative thing was that world pvp started to die out at this time because of flying mounts.
And then in mid-late TBC they started to hand out free epics, that was when the real decline started. The casualization of the game, if you may.
Then came wotlk, where they completely removed threat having any meaning, you just pulled all the packs you could and aoed, no cc required.
After all that it went more and more downhill, the leveling experiences started to matter less and less etc. People wanted everything instantly, and all sense of accomplishment sort of vanished over the years.
Game started to become more and more reliant on having several alts
And I didn't even bring up how servers stopped mattering with battlegroups and phasing.

First of all it looked really fucking cool. Back when I first started WoW and had no idea how gear worked I thought the people in T0.5 were the ones with the best gear because it looked the coolest. I remember walking into orgrimmar as a lvl8 hunter for the first time and seeing a shaman in T0.5 and immediately rerolled.

The meta reason is that T0.5 is really the forerunner to heroic 5 man gear. Vanilla was not designed with heroics in mind obviously, so they had to come up on the fly with ways to increase the difficulty for the 5mans, like the 45min Barron run, to justify the gear. With no T0.5 it's doubtful we would have gotten 5 man heroics and heroic gear in TBC. This is why a lot of 5 man heroics in TBC dropped recolored pieces of T0.5

I'm fine with healing, healing dungeons is very fun, healing raids isn't fun though, but I would be fine with it so long as I got DPS gear that would be useful for normal (world) PVP and duels.
