How is the game AFTER the free weekend?
Not asking if it is dead or not, but rather if I will meet people around my level if I decide to start from scratch?
Or is it a game where everybody already has at least 1 character on the highest level and they basically just use it as a chat programm until a new world boss spawns or some dungeon resets (I'm looking at you, Blade & Souls)

That's a hard one. I kind of like The Hollow City just for the way it's shaped by my decisions and that feeling of having a comfortable little fort, a beacon of safety in enemy territory.

But maybe Riften for a location actually in Tamriel. Port cities are cozy, the bank and craft stations are right next to each other, the rift is a beautiful part of Skyrim and the Werewolf shrine is a short run away.

Morrowind ruined me as far as cities go, not because they were better, but because I just wanted to hike around and delve into ruins to find powerful artifacts. If it has to be a city, probably Orsinium. It's just so sprawling, massive, or looks like it at least. I still prefer roughing it out in the wastes to a cozy inn. It makes getting back to town so much more satisfying.

There's always new people in starter zones. Except now they are also in other zones, because you can just go wherever, so actual starter zones feel a bit more empty than usual. But judging from the content of /zone, there seem to be a lot new players about, so I wouldn't worry about not having anyone around your own level to play with.

Tips for a Tank?

I find it really difficult to aggro large groups to me. I spam the stab attack on each one so they attack me but I feel like all that running around is counter-productive, plus I'll always miss some.

Two options. If you have the undaunted line unlocked you can use the range taunt. So you don't need to move to taunt enemies. Second options is of you are a dragon Knight clasd there is a ardent flame ability where you can shoot a chain that then pulls the enemies to you. Hey guys, just picked this game up after 4 years. Haven't played any of the DLCs. Looking for an interesting/fun build to play.

I installed ordinator, so I cant just build whatever. I have to have a dedicated build.

I was thinking 1h swords with destruction,heavy armor,smithing and enchanting. I also have the Undeath mod installed, so playing a necromancer conjurer who dabbles in destruction sounds pretty cool too.

Any ideas?

There's not really any one role or class that is most needed over any other, but damage dealers make up the vast majority of players. Templar and Dragonknight both have lots of support abilities for damage buffs, armor buffs, healing, crowd control, etc. If you want a an easy support class that everyone wants around, go magicka templar healer.

Some motifs have turban-esque styles to them, namely Redguard. It varies by armor weight however - light armor has a turban-ish head covering, medium has one with a face covering, and heavy just abandons all that for a proper helmet.

If you include Crown Store shit then the Whisperweft Gala and Salawar (I think it's called that) outfits, the shit that makes you look like a stereotypical harem girl. the fuck is support magic?

damage as well as heals is calculated based on your spell damage AND your max resource pool. meaning the more magicka/stamina you have, the stronger your abilities that use the associated resource will be.

redguard has NO +magicka passives, only +stamina, as well as recovery. it's great for stamina based builds, but offers exactly nothing for magicka based builds.


This shit is generalised as fuck, and changes depending on your particular build, and applies to PvE:

for magicka DPS - Dunmer ≥ Altmer > Breton
for magicka heals - Argonian ≥ Breton > Altmer
for magicka tanks - Argonian ≥ Breton > Dunmer

for stamina DPS - Khajiit ≥ Redguard > Imperial ≥ Orc ≥ Bosmer
for stamina heals - no such thing as stamina heals

Does the nord damage reduction passive affect things like sun shield, or is it just mitigating whatever would reduce health? Does is also affect block mitigation?

Is red diamond just shit because it's luck based, or is it actually bugged? That HP would get a meatier sun shield and heaps of stam for block too.

Do I just go argonian for best abs in the game + more effective shitting out of BoL from behind a shield? Extra magicka is good but stam pool might take some hits between potion chugs.

can't answer that for you, but dragonknight is the most efficient and useful tank for vet content

there isn't really the "best" when it comes to tanking. it's very "flexible" and the only type of build that's essentially a viable hybrid. so while there are tank builds where you would invest 64 in either stam or mag, there are also builds where you'd split the points. but generally stamina is a safe bet.

Thats what I did first. Great class to start off with and gain Champion points on. Granted for Trials DK pure tank builds are preferred, but they're so goddamn inefficent outside of group play and in PVE.

The main difference is that DKs really are more reliant on their abilities to weather shit and provide support whereas Temps are more DPS oriented and can self/group heal if things get hectic with a Mag build. But the Stamplars, ohohoh they are something to be reckoned with in Cyrodiil

I have done it.

Bought Gold for 25€ on Steam, had no problems with it, because account was already linked with the ESO account.

Next I am gonna get some of those UI addons which makes playing it more comfortable.

Though I am not gonna activate the stuff like displaying the hitpoints and the damage you've done.

I've never played an Elder Scrolls game.

Pet sorcerer. You'll get a clannfear fairly quick that will tank for you and activating the clannfear again will heal you.

If you have that one ability you do whatever you want in single-player, non-trial, pve content and try out stuff while you figure out what you want to do. Respecting is easy.

food buffs help but the big thing you need is a resistance buff. Templar's is under the healing skill tree and its Rune focus or something like that, its a little circle you stand in and gain a decent chunk of damage resistance making tanking a lot easier. Also block and make sure you have points spent into heavy armor your getting that much of a buff without the passive skills into heavy armor.

Make sure you get the Memory Manager addon. So you don't have that stupid pop-up telling you that the UI is running out of memory.

The game doesn't really ever tell you about it, unless that changed in the tutorial, but you'll be able to find crusty bread lying around that can 3-4k health, which is huge

but as >>160902037 said, Major Ward and Major protection are the 'buffs' you'll want. Templars don't get it from class skills for ages, but if you've been leveling up heavy armor "Immovable" is a solid skill that will give you those two buffs for 10 seconds.

Aside from that, remember to block, and don't waste your own magicka on healing, that's the healers job now. Save it for damage mitigation and jabs

(don't sweat if your bar is getting full either, at 15 you get another skill bar)

Is leveling really that slow in eso? I just finished the first AD island and I'm only lvl 7 yet I'm pretty sure some Cat from a tavern wants me to go to a dungeon that is lvl 10+. Did I fuck up?

You need to actively explore and search for quests in eso right? I'm too used to the monotone WoW style of questing.
